MET Team Marijuana Eradication near Murphys

Murphys, CA...On 8-2-18 the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team served two search warrants near Murphys, CA. Both of these locations were illegal commercial sized marijuana cultivation sites that had been previously eradicated by the Sheriff’s Office in 2017. No suspects were found at either location yesterday. At the first location in the 4000 block of Globe Lily Gln, deputies eradicated 313 marijuana plants. In the 2017 case, this location was noted with numerous environmental violations including damming the waterway and open/unsecure chemicals in close proximity to the waterway. During yesterday’s operation, deputies noted that suspects occupying this site had not cleaned up or made any attempts for reclamation of the land. Many of the environmental violations from 2017 were still occurring.

At the second location in the 4000 block of Esmerelda, deputies eradicated 989 marijuana plants, seized 1.7 pounds of processed marijuana, and seized 2.41 pounds of butane honey oil (concentrated cannabis). Calaveras County Animal Services was called to the scene to take custody and care of five dogs that deputies located in a shed on the property. Violations associated with environmental damage were noted at this site as well including the improper discarding of petroleum products on the ground throughout the property.

These cases are still under investigation. No further information is available at this time.

            Mike Borean and John Hamilton

John did you really talk with the Sierra Sentinel and say this?
            Wowza!!!
            OP-ED: Greater Arnold Business Association???

After hearing many complaints and getting many questions about what is going on with GABA (Greater Arnold Business Association) we were told that no one wanted to be President, so Mike
            Borean got the job.

We made a call to his home number and got no answer, no recorder. The email that we had from when he ran for office last, we used to try and get a response.

A nasty response that all the calls he gets are telemarketers and they do not have time. WHAT DO YOU WANT? We asked him to call our number, but no reply.

So then we called John Hamilton, who we were told is the only other active board member. The postal lady broke her knee. John returned our call right away.

When I told him what I had been told, he was very friendly, but when I offered help, he backed off and said they were waiting a few months.

I asked John if Mike Borean is the right person to be President. I told him he may be still angry that we did not support him when he ran for Supervisor last time.

After discussing his nasty attitude, John and I pretty much decided that he may also be angry because his wife left him for a close friend of ours. UH-OH! Hit the nail on the head????

GABA has been struggling for some time, because Board members are NOT real business people, working from home is not the same and retail businesses do not relate.

Who knows what is going to happen now, but WE are OUT! We do not need nor want to help an organization with a President with what we believe are obvious mental issues!!

Does GABA have a 501C3 status or similar. If so, what is the number. Nice people working hard - and they shouldn't use GABA as a political organization.

Anyone talking to the Sierra Sentinel is not the brightest person around. The editor takes everything and twists it into innuendo with just enough to identify who is being gossiped about but not enough to file a slander suit.,

I just looked up the address on the real estate site. It's Chatom vineyards and advertises that its holdings includes some ranch land on its 356 acres. So I imagine that certain parties were "squatting" on an isolated part of that in which maybe the owner didn't even know about that. Back in the 70's my friend's dad owned land for cattle up in that same area and once he discovered pot plants by a creek and of course just tore them all down. That was also his right to do that. They the ranchers-call pot loco weed like they have done for years cause its not good or can be fatal for horses. Cows have 4 stomachs so they can digest it easy. I would laugh if I ever found out about any cows eating anyone's weed crop! Probably get a bunch of high cows and then they would want to eat more of it LOL!

It's a canyon or so over from Esmeralda off of Sheep Ranch Road. I live on Sheep Ranch Road and we've seen these growers return after the SO eradicated. Really in your face stuff and guessing they think the SO is too busy to stay on top of and thought they were well hidden. This eradication happened again because neighbors complained loudly to our supervisor Oliviera that they were back at it. So, pay attention and make your voice heard. Would also like to say thank you to the Sheriff's Department and participating agencies. I'm a supporter of a regulated commercial industry because I don't think cannibas is going away and would want to see farmers as opposed to cartels operating. Having said that, am also a fan of the law.

You are right that complaining over and over will get results and we found Mike Oliviera to be a big resource for the removal of an illegal grow in our Murphys area are few months ago and also in closing down a real big neighborhood problem. But it takes more than one person to complain and they will need to persist to get action faster

Yes, that's why we have a neighborhood watch list with Mike O's telephone and email available to all. Something to think about if some of you don't know your neighbors well. You don't have to live in each other's living rooms and be the best of friends to have something common and care about your street.

I've tried but thinking time to move out further to places on the Auburn corridor like Grass Valley and Nevada City. A little bit more expensive but there's more a meeting of the minds not to mention access to quality health care and shopping within a half hour's drive. Not to mention better funded county departments and schools. Calaveras just isn't worth it anymore and isn't likely to change. I give this place maybe 18 months while they're still selling to Bay area people buying second homes.

I've been around for a couple of generations and don't like to see what's happening in Calaveras either. Beyond the illegal grows and other issues, a tremendous lack of leadership. I'm not so sure anymore that we'll be just fine.

Snitches get stitches!! You really need to educate yourselves on how easy it is to find out who an "anonymous" post is written by, and even easier to get a person's address after getting a email & name. Especially on a site like The pine tree!! One day your going to publicly snitch on the wrong person, and things will be a lot worse for you than the stinky smell of weed that's "ruining your lives"

Support the proposed revision of Chapter 8.06 of the County Code. Fee's will pay for enforcement instead of County tax dollars.

Yes, and we're all downstream from someone else. If you don't think these backwoods, illegal grows affect you, you are sadly mistaken. All these poisons continue on through the water and soil.

There's a truly two-faced real estate agent in Murphys by the name of Nicole that made a career selling land to growers. Now that the ban's in place, she and her bestie Susan like to sit up on their hillsides with a big bowl of popcorn and wine and, like yesterday, watch all the excitement. These two opinionated busy bodies seem to think they speak for all of us but they do not. Just a couple of sad, out of work, middle aged women with nothing better to do than stir up more excitement. The real estate agent, in particular, should be ashamed of herself.

In fact, these two are responsible for reporting the location to the SO. Illegal grows are wrong but, oh, the hypocrisy.

The new 8 .06 garbage is not the problem and the resolution. The folks on this board and the board before. The person who wrote had this in place had a minimal education. We could have had a seamless transition to help but it took off. Not this mess. We all have this problem to take care of. Not a quick fix by a ban no ban. Wake up people look past your easy money. Fellas been making money before the tears. Now is not the time for cca head mama boy to cry a river. The folk in line before should have done the homework set a limit. Not a free forr all. Your not all that entitled to all be drug dealers. Bahahaha. ... 250 people, treat it like a liquor license. Then whenever 1 bum quits another can take over the next be the next bum. Because after all... haha ha It is mediocre medical. Man I gotta quit smoking this. My beer getting warm. Got any for sale Obama’s care running out-/.

And they have every right to turn people in. It's their right since they are tax paying AMERICAN CITIZENS and they-like a lot of us here-don't want these growers in our county. Get the message?

That's true but I get what the above poster is saying. Pretty disingenuous to sell real estate to growers and then be out there celebrating their demise. If anything, she should be maintaining a low profile.
