Jamestown, CA...On Sunday, July 15, 2018, at approximately 6:14 pm, a 91 year old male Sonora resident was driving a 1993 Toyota Camry eastbound on State Route 120/108, approaching Yosemite Junction. At this time, 42 year old Berkeley resident, Julieta Pisani-McCarthy, was driving a 2017 Ford Fiesta, westbound on State Route 120 intending to make a left turn onto State Route 120/108, at Yosemite Junction. For unknown reasons, Pisani-McCarthy failed to yield the right away to the approaching Toyota Camry and started into the intersection directly into the path of the Toyota Camry. The driver of the Toyota Camry was unable to avoid colliding into the left front of the Ford Fiesta.

The driver of the Toyota Camry was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision and sustained major injuries as a result of this collision. He was transported by air ambulance to Modesto Memorial where he succumbed to his injuries. An 86 year old female Sonora Resident was a passenger in the Toyota Camry. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision and sustained fatal injuries as a result of this collision.

Pisani-McCarthy sustained major injuries as a result of this collision and was transported by air ambulance to Modesto Memorial. 49 year old Berkeley resident, Brian McCarthy, and his two children, Nico McCarthy and Catalina McCarthy were passengers in the Ford Fiesta. They sustained minor injuries and were transported to Adventist Health Sonora to be treated for minor injuries.

This crash is still under investigation. No alcohol or drugs are suspected to have been a factor in this collision. Traffic on State Route 120 and 108 was blocked for approximately 40 minutes while scene evidence was collected and photographed.
