Angels Camp Man Succumbs to Injuries After Being Struck by a Vehicle

Angels Camp, CA...On July 1, 2018 at approximately 5:00 AM, a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox being driven by 55 year old Angels Camp resident, Jutta Larson, struck a pedestrian on South Main Street just north of Mayo Street. The pedestrian was identified as 60 year old Angels Camp resident, Jon VanWey. For unknown reasons, VanWey was in the northbound lane of South Main Street when he was struck by the vehicle.

VanWey was transported by air ambulance to an area hospital and later succumbed to his injuries on July 7, 2018.

The driver of the vehicle was uninjured.

I know both people involved, and I’m so sad for both Jutta and John.

Jutta is a wonderful person, funny and reliable, kind and patient. She must be so upset.

John was just an imperfect man, but in his later life he consistently carried the message that through hard work and belief in God, anyone can achieve recovery of the body and spirit.

This is a tragedy, pine tree trolls, not a joke. Grow up.

John would walk any time of the day. He probably needed to go to the store to buy his cigs and pop. So by the time he would get there (I know I walk alot and timed it myself) there would be a store open for him. He always liked his smokes and a big tumbler of pop. He didn't drink or do drugs at all and nice to everyone. These people who call him an idiot well maybe they are the IDIOTS! Do a check on yourselves before you do a check on others! Do some research first. Geez, some people's kids huh?

AND I GOT NEWS FOR YOU-I know the whole story: whatever he was accused of the alleged victims mother recanted her statement about him being a child molester. The story is that he was dancing with the daughter years ago at some family function. At the time the daughter then was 12 and the grandmother didn't like the way he was dancing. Years later, I watched him at another dance function and that's just the way he dances. His head got all banged up years ago from a different car accident and when he talks and his mannerisms may seem different from a normal person, but that doesn't mean he's a child molester. So think before you start "hanging jackets" on someone! You could be next. Who knows?

BTW, for your info he is OFF Megans list unless you got it from a different UNRELIABLE SOURCE.

The grandma died and the mother rescinded the charges; hence, he was taken off the list. John are you going to do something about these people and their false accusations? I go directly to the real source. Jon was a good man and I just loathe people who really don't know the whole story. I know Jon's caretaker or provider and some of these people don't know what the H they are talking about-he who casts the first stone.......

Please take this statement off-the one all in capitals because it is very derogatory and false-no respect for the dead!
