Three Arrested for Burglary in Valley Springs

Valley Springs, CA... On 06/13/18 at about 1420 hours Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a burglary in progress at a residence for sale in the 8000 block of Baldwin Street, Valley Springs. The Realtor called to report that some unknown subjects were in the residence. Upon arrival deputies contacted two male and two female subjects on the property. After a safety sweep of the residence, deputies noticed that it appeared the subjects were living in the residence which had signs of forced entry to the side garage door. Deputies located a running backhoe in the driveway of the property. In the bucket of the backhoe there were several items that belonged to the property.

It was discovered that the backhoe in the driveway was stolen from Valley Springs Elementary school on Monday 6/11/18. Deputies were able to return the backhoe to the school district. Three subjects were arrested at the house on Baldwin Street and booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

James Whitehead (age 48 of Valley Springs) was booked for burglary in the first degree, possession of stolen property and conspiracy.

Cory Cassel (age 39 of Valley Springs) was booked for two outstanding warrants, burglary in the first degree, conspiracy, and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Leah Robitaille (age 34 of Valley Springs) was booked for burglary in the first degree and conspiracy.

A fourth female subject was contacted and released at the scene.

If anyone has information regarding this case, please contact Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office detectives at 209-754-6500.

In the picture, snapped in the darkness of a Wilton vineyard, Jack Kautz crouches behind a dead buck, smiling as he holds up the animal's head by its freakishly large set of antlers.

It was a buck for the record books with sprawling antlers about an arm's width apart. If Katuz 52, had been had been able to claim it is a official trophy, he could have added it to his long list of accomplishments detailed on the website of his family's Lodi grape growing business, Ironstone Vineyards.

We spend millions building jails and these low life's are running wild, arrested 1 day, out and committing crime the next!! What the hell are our laws and jails for? People are arrested and we are under the assumption these people are in jail, little do we know, within minutes they are out and committing crimes the next day!! So much for law's and new jail's! What a waste of money and man power!

A PD wife responded to the scene and took control, transporting the dirt bag back to a local Revolving jail house door.

Just read your expanded post, and I totally agree with you, why spend millions on jails, more Sheriff officer's, etc. if these are the results we get! In California you are taxed to the max, and get less for it evertime taxes go up! No wonder more and more people start taking the law into their own hands! Why should we have to have to put up with this bull*bleep*, illegals, and white trash criminals have more rights than those of us that work for a living! Let's hear from more of you on this issue!
