Jessica Morse Statement on Called Primary Election Results in 4th Congressional District

Roseville, CA...Following last night's primary results, whereupon she will advance to the November general election, Democratic candidate Jessica Morse released the following statement: "A year ago, I launched my campaign for Congress because I believed that the 4th Congressional District deserved a representative who would put the important issues facing our community first.

For five terms, Tom McClintock has continually let this community down, whether blocking access to affordable healthcare, supporting a tax bill that hurts most Californians, or failing to protect our natural resources. This morning, I am honored to be given the chance to continue this fight to November.

"I am grateful for the hard work that my family, volunteers, and staff put into this effort, as I could not have gotten this far without their constant support. I also want to congratulate Regina Bateson and Roza Calderon on a hard-fought campaign, and humbly invite their supporters to join our team and unite for the next battle.

"Taking on Tom McClintock and his special-interest backers will not be easy. But as I have learned over the past year traveling across all ten counties in the 4th district, nothing can erase the enthusiasm and passion awakened by our campaign. I look forward to the challenge ahead."

About Jessica Morse
A fifth-generation Northern Californian, Jessica Morse is a daughter of the foothills. She announced her candidacy for Congress last year by conducting a listening tour across all ten counties in the 4th district, and has taken part in 16 forums and debates since then. A devoted public servant, Morse spent a decade serving with the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Defense, and the U.S. Agency for International Development, including over a year in Baghdad at the height of the Iraq War. She is running for office to bring public service back to politics to protect our land, healthcare, and local economy.

About the 4th District
California's 4th District stretches from the eastern Sacramento suburbs to the Sierra foothills, including Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National Park. Incumbent Republican Tom McClintock won his first election by less than a point, and the GOP vote for President shrunk to 54% in 2016, more competitive than many of the areas won by Democrats in recent special elections such as those in Alabama and Pennsylvania.

Affordable Health Care
Posted on: 2018-06-06 08:42:41   By: Anonymous
I used to have affordable health care through my employer.
Now my children were forced onto Medical.

My daughter broke her leg and sat at home for a week waiting for Medical authorization for an MRI before they finally operated.

She is now in the middle of, what should be Physical Therapy, waiting now for 2 weeks for more authorization from the state. She can not bend her leg, and I fear for her.

Meanwhile, I pay so much for my wife's and my insurance that I cannot afford to use it, because of high deductibles. I suppose we should take solace in the Democrat ideology of providing free health care to the drug addicts not working in the valley.

I am sorry for your problems, but if there were no Medical you would not have access to any health care except what you could afford, and one serious illness would bankrupt your family. The current system is imperfect, but the GOP solution is to do less and leave it to the big drug companies and corporations. The GOP solution? Do nothing. I'd rather have elected officials willing to look for solutions than do nothing. Also, I think the Meth users that are bothering you live right here in our county.

Actually our President is going after the big drug companies if you would take the time to read up on current affairs.
Don't be ignorant, you have a computer at your finger tips.

Really going after big drug companies? Tell us how? Why won’t trump let the us government get bids for drugs, search for lowest price? Republicans want us to pay most for drugs so they get big bucks from their drug company investments.

Correct. Trump talks on this but no action. It's far too complicated for him to understand.

Not true. I had health insurance for my whole family prior to ObamaCare.

The employer version was much cheaper before all the additional burdens were placed on insurance companies.

I am told that we still have a couple of weeks before we get approval. Doctor is concerned over lack of progress.

If any hospital allowed your daughter's broken leg to go untreated for a week, you should be talking to a lawyer rather than posting on thepinetree.

The GOP had a year to address the problems with Obamacare and instead made changes that decreased the availability of coverage and increased the cost of premiums while removing required coverage for some conditions. If the GOP succeeds in dismantling Medicaid (Medi-Cal in CA) by converting it to block grants, then coverage for your daughter will be even worse.

BTW, your daughter must be an adult (more than 26 years old) or she would still be covered by your insurance thanks to Obamacare.

Let's also be clear that your insurance premiums are set by private companies, not by the government or Obamacare. If your employer discontinued its insurance plan for employees (including you), then that was your employer's decision. By removing the individual mandate, the GOP has guaranteed that your premiums will increase dramatically in coming years. Feel free to send them a thank you note.

You got it all twisted up or you are making it up. If Dems had their way all would have affordable health care , and you know it. The Repubs are the ones that want you at the mercy of the insurance companies, because the Repubs are the ones that own most of the insurance companies and stock.

So just quit the bs until, stfu, you BSer.

All right, Democrats. We have a viable candidate to defeat the carpet-bagger McClintock. Time to send her some money so she can put on a strong campaign. And time to make sure your friends turn out to vote for her in November.

These things are not someone else's job. We all need to do our part.

Jessica does not want to secure Calif borders, she wants dreamers in Calif. (I was going to vote for her until I saw this on her website) We have over 2,400,000 illegals in Ca as it is. Guess who pays for all of these illegals, their housing, medical, school, food stamps, people driving without Ins and not paying taxes?....the over taxed Calif working tax payer, that's who. And yes, we also pay for all of those drug addicts that roam our streets, who wait for you to go to work so they can break in your home and rip you off, kind of like the democrats in power, in our once great state.

The Dreamers is a Federal Fund and the NATION gains interest and that is how they get the money. If you think these people who are escaping war crimes (rape murder, torture, genocide) then you need to re-evaluate your morals. I want you to visit some of these countries and live there for a couple of days then look at the these people and say you can't stay you "dirty illegals"

Just to be clear, Dreamers are people brought here as children and raised in the US. For most the US is the only country they have ever known as home. Many speak only English. They have attended school here and, if old enough now, are either in college or working. By education, training, and loyalty they are indistinguishable from anyone of their age born in the US. The US is short of workers so it is beyond stupid to do anything but give these people a clear path to citizenship. In the meantime they are contributing to the US economy, paying taxes and doing everything asked of them.

Dreamers are not recent immigrants. To be a Dreamer and eligible for DACA the child had to be brought to the US before age 16 and had to have lived in the US since 2007 or earlier.

Since when is it The United States's responsibility to take the other countries downtrodden? Where does Mexico's and Central America's responsibility start? Why don't all these illegals turn on their corrupt government and drug cartels and kick some serious ass, and take their country back? Illegals are not our responsibility, granted many of them are good people, hard working, etc. but many don't want to assimilate into being American's , I don't want them here for those very reasons, this isn't a holding pen this is a sovereign nation with rules and regulations, and when many of you want to give that away, screw you!

All bs. Some stay and assimilate. Many if not most just want to earn some money to return home. They come here because ass**** Americans buy the drugs tha t the cartels sell that come from Mexico, and South America, which the cartels use your money to corrupt those countries and communities.

Have you forgotten all the history taught in grade school? The US is a great nation because of immigrants. Many came from Europe in the late 19th and early 20th century fleeing poverty and societies in which they could not succeed or be safe. Many fled Germany and the Nazis right before or after WWII.

The Statue of Liberty invites the "downtrodden." If your view prevails we should just give the statue back to France and forfeit any pretense of moral leadership in the world.

It would be well if you put away your feeling of superiority for being a US citizen and realized you are not superior but simply lucky to be born here. I'll bet you were also lucky enough to be born white and male. So you've had every advantage in life and yet you still turned out to be narrow-minded curmudgeon. The US will benefit if it takes in people who were unlucky in where they were born but have strived to overcome that adversity and make something of themselves. Just getting to the US border from Central America and asking for asylum is a greater challenge than many US born people ever face or overcome. We can use people like that.
