God help us if MERITA CALLAWAY should ever win.... free pot for those who vote for her.
To run for a BOS position a drug test should be required.

Merita, you were our Supervisor and the voters have already spoken. WE DON'T WANT YOU! You did nothing to improve the Arnold area then and now that you are an old lady you will do less. You need to be put out to pasture with the rest of the old cows.

Such nonsense. Merita is just the most qualified, honest, accessible and best choice. She is pro business and pro community. To say anything else is just rumors and gossip, something many in this community seem to thrive on.

Merita is not qualified. In 21 years why couldn't the General Plan be completed? In less than one year, the current Board of Supervisors have made more progress and in fact are mostly done. Merita does not understand business principles or have negotiation skills or knowhow to guide a district toward success. She only has pot behind her, which is not going to go well for us.

You're such a friggin IDIOT. Reason I, for one, am leaving this backward county! The last thing Ms. Callaway supports is free marijuana. The fact that she supports a legal, necessary, medical dispensary in her District is forward thinking, educated and wise stance. Get your head out where the sun shines and do some research, idjet!

Well, o.k. We need much, much more than a dispensary. Merita is not demonstrably capable to lead us toward where we need to be. Arnold went downhill over the 21 years Merita was our supervisor, and it can be traced to her PD. No more.

Merita did not "garner twice as many votes" as anyone else. Her spread was impressive, but only because she has pot behind her. They bought 3 mailers that I promptly through away. Please stop with the stupid publicity shots, mailers, and other stuff. Stop killing trees. Stop plotting and scheming. Basically we don't want to go backward. She can only succeed if our voters have amnesia.

Thank goodness the people HAVE spoken with Merita garnering twice as many votes as the incumbent. Who BTW we never heard from or saw until election time. Or who even responded to emails from constituents. If Oliviera really wants the job, please take a page from Merita's playbook by holding regular office hours, responding to communications and providing updates and details on what you are working on for the benefit of District 3.

Hear hear, I've written Mr. Oliveira probably half a dozen times about local issues (NOT regarding cannabis) that were up for discussion at board meetings. Never a single reply from him. But when it came time for him to mass-spam his constituents for damage control, after some email from 'Calaveras Honest' (that I never got, shame!), you better believe I was on THAT list. Last night was no doubt a sobering wake up call.

Mike realizes he can do better with returning calls, etc. Mike is on 14 county committees, the most of any other supervisor. I would think that the damage Merita Callaway has done to not just Arnold, but the entire county (Hell - she even screwed Alpine County in stopping the Bear Valley deal), would be cause enough to vote for Mike. ABM/Anyone But Merita!

Our neighborhood group emailed Oliviera about the deplorable condition of our road without any response whatsoever. A responsible supervisor would at least respond to say he or she was looking further into the situation with public works. Suspect that cost him a few votes as there are over 40 individuals on our neighborhood watch list.

The Heart of Arnold opened on Michael Oliveira's watch. During Merita;s 21 years, the business area of Arnold averaged 40-50 commercial vacancies. In just the past three years of Supervisor Oliveira in office, we have had more than 19 commercial vacancies filled. We do not want to go backward.

Sell her home in the gated community, buy up real estate in Arnold and rent to businesses at a deep discount so that they can afford to stay open while they lose money? So, now that we know who are candidates will be, let's all put them to the test and hold them accountable. Both have been supervisors so both are guilty of not funding the road department and that's why we have 30 year old vehicles plowing the roads in winter. Anyone care to venture how much it costs the County to maintain this fleet versus a planned replacement program? Your tax dollars at work neighbors!

Actually, when the road dept ran the really old military surplus vehicles, that were disposed of when Garcia took over Public Works, those old trucks ran real well as compared to the frail vehicles you get today. Replacing older vehicles for snow plowing is not always the best thing to do.

Sorry, but you are mistaken regarding Garcia and snowplow truck replacements. Currently PW is running approximately 29 pieces of equipment that are close to or over 30 years in age. The cost to maintain and repair these trucks is very high. As a resident of this district, I object to the fact that they are still not scheduled for replacement...and I don't even get my non-county maintained road plowed.

If Mike wants the numbers to change in his favor in November, he needs to remember that Murphys is also his district, he will need to find new buddies and new supporters who are thought well of in both Murphys and Arnold and he will need to return every call and email immediately and take some action on all problems brought to him. And he had only a few months to swing this around so he had work to do
