Sad. So very many bears on the move this year and close to populated areas. Prayers for the safety of both parties.

a PD wife responded to the scene and took control, transporting the bear to a local wild animal rescue, "Motherlode Wildlife Care." Motherlode Wildlife Care is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is permitted through both the CA and US Department of Fish and Wildlife, and their volunteers have the required training to ensure that wildlife in need receives the best possible care so that the wildlife has the best chance possible of being released back into the appropriate natural habitat.

In the last 20 years in Calaveras more ore than 40 square miles of bear habitat has been destroyed by SPI clearcutting and conversion of real forests into young tree plantations. No wonder bears are displaced. Go to Google Earth to see for yourself.

It has nothing to do with clear cuts. It’s all the jackasses with money they came up and got to building a dream home in a bears natural habitats. Us folk r hick folk. Never had much of a problem till the real problem moved up here. As you protest back in your home in the gay area on a piece of paper and cardboard. How did you wipe you ass this morning. Whistler on a Vehicle is not a solution.

SPI doesn’t own any property within 5 miles if there.

Susan R - when will you learn ? Nobody cares about your SPI rants. SPI practices modern thoughtful science based forestry. Nobody wants your version of Neandrathal forestry that has resulted in the mess that the forests are today. Go take a nap.

Who is feeding bear's in the Hathaway pines area? This isn't SPI area, I, personally have seen of more than a few bear's killed on this stretch, huge pools of blood on the road, so if you are attracting these animals with food, STOP IT!

That Broglio wants to sell his property in AC to put in a Tractor SupplyHardware! I like the store, but enjoy the ride to Sonora to use it! We don't need another place to buy a shovel, we need a store that sells affordable clothes, shoes, underwear, and not a Kohl's or some ridiculous store! The development group that wants to put TSH in AC needs to be stopped, they are running out of ideas on how to make Sonora, Modesto East! Hence, come to hick town AC and push the spineless city council around and destroy local business!

Modesto doesn't have a Tractor Supply but Ripon does, large difference between the two towns.

In the picture, snapped in the darkness of a Wilton vineyard, Jack Kautz crouches behind a dead buck, smiling as he holds up the animal's head by its freakishly large set of antlers.

It was a buck for the record books with sprawling antlers about an arm's width apart. If Katuz 52, had been had been able to claim it is a official trophy, he could have added it to his long list of accomplishments detailed on the website of his family's Lodi grape growing business, Ironstone Vineyards.
