Vote for Measure A on June 5th ~ Florence Alberts

San Andreas, CA....In 2003, I retired and became a volunteer at Mark Twain Medical Center. I have worked in several departments one or two days a week, six hours a day. On June 5, the voters of Calaveras County have a chance to help our hospital. Vote yes on Measure A. It’s a measure asking voters to approve a new lease between Mark Twain Medical Center and the Mark Twain Health Care District and renew the affiliation with Dignity Health. It does not raise taxes or have any impact on your tax bill. It does not give our hospital to Dignity Health.

If Measure A does not pass, the hospital could be forced to close, which would be terrible for our community. Hundreds of jobs would be lost and we would have to travel farther to get medical help.

People in Calaveras County need this hospital for many reasons – surgery, physical therapy, lab services, etc. Mark Twain Medical Center has the only cancer center in the county.

We need to come together and make our great hospital even better. On June 5, I urge you to do the right thing and vote yes on Measure A. Please let me and others continue to work and volunteer at Mark Twain Medical Center.

Thank you,
Florence Alberts

Lost Opportunity

It was a sorry event when Adventist health dropped out of the possible management of the MT hospital.
The management of the hospital has many times been criticized by grand juries.
The hospital doesn't need a promotional ad campaign by it's current manager- Dignity health, which appeared concerned more with promotion instead of improving the deficiencies of the hospital. How much was spent on these promotions instead on attracting top notch health professionals? We want better services, not an ad campaign.

We feel the best choice is management by Adventist Health , or another group, not Dignity health.

Almost ALL of the nurses signed a petition that simply stated that if Adventist got in, they would all quit.. This speaks volumes about Adventist.

Adventist health has been terrible for the motherlode. Before them, Tuolumne county had a decent general hospital that served all those in need. Not just those with great insurance like Adventist. Adventist could care less about mental health issues. They send people to Stockton for that; which is enough to go crazy in the first place.

Furthermore, I recently needed an x-ray. Adventist wanted $670 bucks while dignity got me the same x-ray for $180. Same machine, same x-ray, 3x the cost.

Vote yes on A, seriously. And FU Adventist.

I agree, another group would be more acceptable. They have done a poor job running the hospital. Even in an emergency, I will instruct my ambulance (if at all possible) to bypass this hospital.

So the letter is begging to keep the hospital so she can volunteer there. There are many other places to volunteer.

Adventist health has also turned to shat. My doctor left due to some pretty shady politics. Now my new wannabe doc says dignity health is just the same maybe better. No neurologist, one gastrointestinal doc that has a 6 month waiting list ect. You don't know what your talking about. Not to mention adventist health shoves jesus down your throat! Take it from someone who's now leaving adventist, when there own doc tells me to get back with dignity mark twain, that's fukin hurtin. The last 6 months has gone down hill with adventist.

We have been told by some knowlegable's that Adventist would contemplate using MT as a kind of clinic, so that they wouldn't have to hire DR.'s for both facilities, that doesn't sound good! We recently used the hospital in Jackson, very nicely staffed, and overall a good experience! We use all three facilities, but feel keeping a hospital in our county makes the most sense, once you lose it, it's gone!

MTSJ is very much lacking in the quality of services but it’s the best we have for a country hospital model.
