Major & Moderate Injuries To Motorcyclists on Parrotts Ferry Road

Columbia, CA...On May 19, 2018 at approximately 12:25 pm, 56 year old San Jose resident, Darryl A. Fraser, was riding a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle, traveling southbound on Springfield Road, south of Parrotts Ferry Road at approximately 40 to 45 miles per hour while passing other motorcycles also traveling in the southbound lane. 31 year old Rohnert Park resident, Daniel J. Rauer, was riding a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle, traveling southbound on Springfield Road, south of Parrotts Ferry Road at approximately 35 miles per hour, ahead and to the right of Mr. Fraser.

After passing numerous motorcycles, Mr. Fraser proceeded to move to the right within the southbound lane and the right side of Mr. Fraser’s motorcycle collided with the left side of Mr. Rauer’s motorcycle.

This collision caused both motorcycles to travel onto and over the dirt/gravel shoulder colliding with rocks and bushes. Both Mr. Fraser and Mr. Rauer were ejected into the bushes along the right side of the road. Mr. Fraser sustained major injuries as a result of the collision and was flown to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.

Mr. Rauer sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Adventist Health Sonora before being transported to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.

Alcohol nor drugs were suspected to be a factor in this collision.

I was coming in from Sacramento last night around 9PM south on hwy. 49 and a steady stream of cars was leaving the fairgrounds. Up ahead I saw 5 headlights approaching me not looking like a car passing. It was 3 bikes riding in the middle of the road passing cars at will. They got over right in front of me, but could have clipped the front of my car. Now it's dark and heavy traffic and they're riding like morons endangering everyone around them. If you own a road bike learn how to ride it.

Same thing happened on Hwy 4 passing me in turns, road shoulder and any place without oncoming traffic. Only to end up at the stoplight at the same time. Just to keep your group together you risk everyone's else's safety. Too bad they all didn't pile it up!

Weekend Warriors

I too had an encounter, poor driving Harley rider passing and weaving in and out of lanes to pass everyone. He, within inches, almost clipped the front of my truck with his passenger and the back of his bike.

I have rode motorcycles since very young. Not excessive large ones, but dual sport motorcycles that serve the best purpose in the foothills. I would never even consider doing what I am seeing these weekend warriors doing. They give the rest of us a bad name. Especially irritating is the ear deafening pipes and a loud radio on top of it going through our quiet communities and neighborhoods.

This last weekend with the biker frog jump now at Don Pedro, law enforcement should be letting them know that their antics are persona non grata.

These maniacs from the bay area and beyond jeopardize everyone on the road! How can they be sitting at all the local bars and be drinking, then drive away impaired! I do not care it they kill themselves, but innocent people are at risk. They do not care about anyone when they are crossing double yellow lines, speeding, and just generally being *bleep*s! Most locals are completely disgusted by these weekend nuisances, their rudeness and disregard for anything is beyond belief. Just a matter of time till another person is killed or badly injured. They love littering anywhere they can. Go away you dangerous idiots!

Nope, a local who is sick and tired of these mental midgets coming up here and speeding, trashing places, and endangering themselves and all others. The pack mentality is ridiculous! They jeopardize other drivers so they can all drive together . They have no regard for anyone but themselves. We do not need them here, they are not welcome by lots of people, and that is because of their lack of respect for others.

I really enjoyed the fair, the motorcycle bunch are a side show, and they do what they want for 3 day's, mostly ignored by the police! Kinda like the Left asking innocent people to turn in all their guns, and if you don't whose going to start knocking on door's hoping everyone will peacefully relinquish their guns? The old look the other way and hope nothing bad happens! Sorta like Kautz's concerts, nearly every car that leaves the concerts has someone behind the wheel that is loaded, cops for the most part look the other way, and John Kauttz prays that no one leaving his concerts kills a family on hiway 4 that is innocently driving along and some drunk on wine, beer and weed kills that family! So circling back to the beginning, the fair is fine, it is there every year for a number of reasons, I like to think it displays small town or small county fun, competition, and an event that is dying all over California for various reasons! Bikers use it as they have since the 60''s to get together and irritate us for 3 day's! Some year's they pay with their stupidity, hope I never run over one, but what the heck, my truck will always come out the winner, I hit the brakes for no reason, and I refuse to dive off the shoulder for even a squirrel! What can we complain about next?
