Mark Charles Jacobson 1952 - 2018, Veteran, Teacher & Man of Faith

San Andreas, CA...Mark Charles Jacobson was born on August 12, 1952 in Janesville, Wisconsin to Gordon Charles Jacobson and Norma Ellis Jacobson. Mark passed away at the age of sixty-five on March 30th, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. Mark grew up with his mother and father in Janesville, Wisconsin. After earning his high school degree in 1970, Mark left his hometown to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Mark graduated in 1974 with a degree in Management. Upon graduation his first assignment was in Sacramento, CA where he met his wife Linda. Throughout his career he was stationed in a wide variety of locations including Georgia, Washington D.C., Southern California, and England. In 1979 while in the military, Mark completed a Master's Degree in Logistics Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology. After twenty-two years of service, Mark retired in 1996 as a Lieutenant Colonel and moved to his wife's hometown San Andreas, California.

In 1999 Mark earned his teaching credential and shortly afterwards started a second career teaching Algebra and Pre-Algebra at Toyon Middle School where he has taught for the past nineteen years. The core principle of Mark's life was his devotion to Jesus Christ and the Bible. For many years Mark was an active member of the San Andreas Community Covenant Church participating in numerous outreaches and volunteer work. Outside of being a Christian and a math teacher, Mark enjoyed fitness, reading, playing the piano, and sitting in his back yard soaking up the sunshine.

Mark is survived by his wife Linda, his mother Norma and his children Philip and Kristy. Mark is preceded in death by his father Gordon.

The funeral service in honor of Mark will be held Saturday, April 14th at the San Andreas Community Covenant Church at 11:00am followed by a reception.

A quiet man of gigantic compassion, selflessness and love. You will be missed, Mark. Our deepest sympathies to all of your family, friends and students.

Mark was one of my favorite colleagues at Toyon; very kind, gentle, mild-mannered, and well thought of by everyone. May his family be comforted knowing he is resting with his Lord in a special place in heaven. CL
