Major Injuries to La Grange Man After Traveling Through Caution Signs
La Grange, CA...On March 23, 2018, at approximately 0550 hours, Mr. Sandlin of La Grange was driving his 1999 Dodge Ram pick-up westbound on Ranchito Drive west of Carrillo Way at a stated speed of approximately 50 miles per hour. Mr. Sandlin traveled through a set of cautionary signs blocking the road due to a washout of road just west of that location. Mr. Sandlin failed to notice the road ahead had washed away. Mr. Sandlin’s Dodge became airborne as it traveled into the approximate 30 foot section of washout in the road. The Dodge struck the opposing side of the washout and came to rest on its left side. Mr. Sandlin extricated himself from the Dodge and called 911 for assistance. Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected in this collision.
The California Highway Patrol would like to remind motorists that due to flooding and roadway damage throughout the county. Please slow down, allowing extra time in your travels and pay attention to posted signs and barricades. We also encourage motorists to call ahead for road conditions on State Routes at 1-800-427-7623 (Road), and Tuolumne County Roads at 209-533-5511.
