Moderate Injuries in Yesterday's Motorcycle Collision in Valley Springs Area

Valley Springs, CA...On March 12, 2018, at approximately 1:50 PM, Mr. Wallace was driving a 2005 GMC Sierra northbound on Cane Lane and came to a stop at the intersection with Rippon Road. Mr. Barron was driving a 2012 Yamaha R-1 motorcycle westbound on Rippon Road at approximately 35 miles per hour. Mr. Wallace did not observe the Yamaha approaching the intersection and drove into the path of the motorcycle. The front of the GMC collided with the left side of the Yamaha. As a result of the collision, Mr. Barron sustained moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to Lodi Memorial Hospital. Both parties were properly utilizing their safety equipment.

Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected as a contributing factor in this collision.

The roadways in the mother lode have become like driving in a destruction derby. Each time I drive them I am almost hit because of drivers coming across the lines. Many times having just seconds to decide where to go, and being forced off to the side of the road by the other driver. I consider myself lucky each day not being injured/killed or having my vehicle destroyed. I have now purchased a camera to have on during driving and intend to start reporting the incidents. You have to drive defensively and always assume the other person does not see you, Always try to make eye contact with the other person to see if they are paying attention. Glad the motorcycle driver is still alive.

You can report all you want, no good will come of it. I have cameras in my vehicles, it will be useful for a crash evidence, and be useful to the attorney of someone hit by someone reckless.
