Local Search & Rescue Teams Participate in Winter Survival Training

Lake Alpine, CA...From the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office...Members of our Calaveras County Search and Rescue Team participated in annual winter survival training around Lake Alpine this weekend. Our hardworking Deputies and Volunteers average around 120 hours of an extensive training regimen each year. They respond to a variety of search and rescue calls for lost or injured persons in off-road and wilderness areas of Calaveras County and provide mutual aid as needed to other areas in our region.

Anyone interested in volunteering, wants to donate to, or learn more about the Search and Rescue Team, please visit the website:

It is heroic that they want to, and do help others. We are very lucky to have them. But sometimes it would be better to leave those who do idiotic things and put others in danger, to natural selection so they do not procreate more.
