What’s Happening in Murphys this Week – February 19 Through 26, 2018

Murphys, CA...Try out the Saturday Hopper bus service running between Valley Springs and Arnold with stops in Murphys. Enjoy a day in Murphys and leave the driving to Calaveras Transit! Saturdays in Murphys - Walking Tours of Historic Downtown Murphys are available at no charge (donations gratefully accepted) on Saturday mornings at 10am leaving from the Old Timers Museum. January 30 – April 29, 2018 – Cattle in the Sierras Exhibit at the Old Timers Museum - Funded by a California Stories grant from California Humanities, the Murphys Old Timers Museum, has produced an exhibit on the long-established practice of transhumance in the California Foothills and Sierra Nevada. Friday - Sunday 12-4 pm

February 21, 2018 - DNA in Plain English: Genealogy at the Murphys Library - Linda Trudeau will give a presentation on genealogy at Murphys Library - The focus of this presentation will be “DNA in Plain English”: You don’t have to be a scientist to be fascinated by the twists & turns of family history. February 21, 2018 – Sierra Celtic Society Meeting at the Murphys Historic Hotel - The life of 18th-century Scottish poet and songwriter, Robert Burns, will be the program topic at the Western Sierra Celtic Society’s 7 p.m., Wednesday meeting in the Historic Murphys Hotel’s banquet room. Born in 1759, Burns’ birthday is celebrated globally, with his poems and songs. His well-known Auld Lang Syne is traditionally sung on New Year’s Eve. The presentation will follow the 7 p.m. Irish-Scottish club’s business meeting. Attendees may arrive early for a no-host dinner in the hotel’s restaurant.
