Got Cookies?~By Hanna Heath
Angels Camp, CA….Today, 1,350 cases of girl scouts cookies were dropped off at the Angels Camp Fire/ Police Department. The cookies were brought in by a large semi-truck filled to the rim. Half of the truck was delivered in Angles Camp and the other half in Valley Springs.....
Thirteen different troops from Copper, Angels Camp, Murphys, and Arnold came to pick up their boxes from 3-6pm. After speaking with Ruth Gray a lady girl scout, she shared “our county sales are super high compared to other counties and cities in California.” A total of 135 cases were sold, totaling 13,600 cookies. With each box of cookies costing $3.50 they raised $47,000 with pre order cookie sales. The girls had two weeks to sell cookies and to earn incentive awards. Incentive awards are given out by the amount of cookies a scout sale. Some of the awards include the following:
Tops Prizes-
2000 boxes sold, receive a laptop
1000 boxes sold, receive a DVD player
500 boxes sold, receive a letter from the girl scouts sales men
And so forth…………………..
The older girls between the ages 11-18 can use their money for summer camp instead of receiving an incentive award. The money that they raise goes in a fund to pay for a summer camp of their choice. I spoke with 8 year old Crisi Shockey, a girl scout, and who is the second top seller of cookies in her troop. Crisi sold a total of 250 boxes, only ten boxes behind the top seller.
Today’s delivery was for the people who bought during the pre orders. You still have a chance to buy your Girl Scout cookies, because they will be doing site sales. The site sales start on February 22nd and go through March 9th. Some of the various locations include Starbucks, Save Mart, Big Trees Market, and Sierra Hills Market.
