What’s Happening in Murphys this Week Through February 8, 2018

Murphys, CA...Try out the Saturday Hopper bus service running between Valley Springs and Arnold with stops in Murphys. Enjoy a day in Murphys and leave the driving to Calaveras Transit! Saturdays in Murphys - Walking Tours of Historic Downtown Murphys are available at no charge (donations gratefully accepted) on Saturday mornings at 10am leaving from the Old Timers Museum. Please contact Jo Sanders at 209-728-3072 to confirm dates and times or make arrangements for large groups.




January 30 – April 29, 2018 – Cattle in the Sierras Exhibit at the Old Timers Museum - Funded by a California Stories grant from California Humanities, the Murphys Old Timers Museum, has produced an exhibit on the long-established practice of moving cattle to the high country for the summer. Since gold was discovered in California in the winter of 1848, cattle have roamed the foothills in winter and spring, summered in the rich grasslands of the Sierra Nevada, and returned to their lowland homes in the fall. The Museum is open Friday -Sunday, 12-4 pm

February 2, 2018 – Wine Down Friday at the Stevenot Tasting Room featuring Durt Cheap at 5pm.

February 2, 2018 – Risky Biscuits at the Lucky Penny – 9-midnight

February 3, 2018 – Cooking Classes at Ironstone Vineyards – Recipes for Romance - Time to up your cooking game with Ironstone Vineyards Chef Chip Roberts! Learn how to whip up everything from Super Bowl bites to a St. Patrick’s Day feast! There will be plenty of wine to go around. 11 am to 3 pm – Call 209-728-1251 for reservations.

February 3, 2018 – Blue Mountain Radio Fundraiser with Risky Biscuits at the Black Bart Theater – 7-11 pm. – Contact the Blue Mountain Coalition at (209) 293-4500 for tickets and information.

February 4, 2018 – Beppe Gambetta at the First Congregational Church – 3pm – Call 209-728-3141 for tickets.

February 7, 2018 – Taize Service at First Congregational Church - A contemplative candlelit service of prayers, readings and songs offering comfort and Peace to help refresh and relax from 7-8 pm. Call 209-890-7466 for more information.

February 8, 2018 – Murphys Irish Day Planning Meeting – Anybody interested in helping or sharing ideas is welcome to attend - 8:30am at the Firehouse Meeting Room. sponsored by the Calaveras Winegrape Alliance (CWA) - Presidents’ Wine Weekend is an opportunity for wine lovers to taste their way thru Calaveras County by purchasing a commemorative glass and visiting over 22 participating wineries and tasting rooms while enjoying free limited-tasting flights of numerous award-winning wines and exciting varietals offered by the best of Calaveras County’s wine community.
