New CAO and Hospital President Address Murphys Town Hall Meeting in Feburary 26th
Murphys, CA...Bob Lawton, the newly appointed Calaveras County Administrative Officer, and Feliciano Jiron, who took over as President of Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital in San Andreas last May, will have a chance to interact with area residents when the Murphys Community Club presents its first Town Hall Meeting of the year Tuesday, February 26, 7 p.m. in the Native Daughters Hall, 268 Main St....
“We think it is important for the people of our community to hear directly from these two countywide leaders and for them to get to know us,“ states program organizer JoAnna Reagan. “What takes place in our country government and at our local hospital has a direct effect on all our lives.”
Each speaker will make a short presentation and then answer questions from the audience. There will be an opportunity for continued conversations during the social time that follows the meeting. Everyone is invited to attend.
Jiron comes from an Arizona Medical Center where he was Assistant Chief Executive Officer. Prior to that he worked at medical centers in New Mexico and Las Vegas. He has also served in the U.S. Army. Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital is a not-for-profit, 48-bed general acute care hospital serving all of Calaveras County. Established in 1951 as Mark Twain District Hospital and centrally located in San Andreas, the hospital is partnered with Catholic Healthcare West to further strengthen this rural hospital to meet future community needs. The hospital medical staff includes 45 active physicians practicing in 24 specialties.
Lawton, formerly Solano County Deputy Administrator, assumed his Calaveras County responsibilities on January 22nd. He had been with Solano County since January of 2005. Prior to that, he spent approximately 23 years at the state and local level in Wisconsin and New York. Among the issues facing him in his new position are the building of a new jail, creating a General Plan and dealing with the effects of the State's $14 billion deficit.
Reagan, a member of the Community Club board, will moderate the evening.
