Mokelumne Hill Man Arrested on Stolen Vehicle and Assault Charges

Mokelumne Hill, CA...On 1-29-18 Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded for the second day in a row to a reported disturbance at a residence on Flat Gulch Road near Mokelumne Hill. During the initial call for service it was reported that 33 year old Jason Andahl (of Mokelumne Hill) was the suspect in an assault incident involving a female victim. During that incident it was also reported that Andahl had threatened witnesses. Andahl was gone prior to deputies’ arrival and he had not been located.




When deputies returned the next day, Andahl was contacted and arrested. It was determined that the female victim was also the protected party in a criminal protective order with Andahl being restrained from any contact. Andahl was also listed as being “out on bail” from a prior assault incident/arrest in 2017.

In addition, while deputies were on scene conducting their investigation, a stolen truck from Amador County was located and recovered from Andahl’s possession.

Jason Andahl was booked into the Calaveras County Jail on two separate cases for:
273.5PC – Inflict Corporal Injury
422PC – Criminal Threats
166(a)(4)PC – Violation of Court Order
12022.1PC – Commit Felony while out on Bail
Bail $95,000
10851CVC – Stolen Vehicle
496(d)(a)PC – Possess Stolen Property
166(c)(4)PC – Subsequent Violation of Court Order
Bail $70,000

I’m noticing a pattern. Response times are inadequate. I wonder why. Oh that’s right the Sheriff’s Department has a third as many deputies today as there was in 2002. Tell us more about your commitment to public safety and fiscal responsibility Supervisor Mills.

    I talked with a really nice deputy (Johnson, I think) the other day. They did get two new officers, and 6 more will be on the way from the academy. And they finally got an incredibly late, but well deserved raise recently. Pay down in the flats is almost double what our guys get, doing the same type of dangerous work.
    It doesn't help when they arrest someone, and that arrested person gets minimum bail, so he post it (just like this ahole did) and he can continue to, living the dream, so our deputies have to go after the same criminals time and time again.

    $$~ I hate to say it, but without the marijuana taxes, we would be losing more deputies, not getting more.~$$
    If you know another way to bring in millions in taxes, you'd be crowned King or Queen in our county and we erect a Statue of you as a savor of the county. You'd be the hometown HERO.

Measure C raised over $11,000,000 in tax revenue. That’s a 50% increase to the County’s discretionary budget in 2015-2016. Think about that for a second. Mills, Tofanelli, and Clapp eliminated 1/3 of their discreationary funds that could be used to add deputies, increase pay to reduce turnover and the associated costs.
