Congressional Candidate Jessica Morse Has More Cash on Hand than Incumbent Tom McClintock

Roseville, CA...National security strategist and first-time candidate outraised incumbent for the second quarter in a row and has $488K cash on hand, to McClintock’s $462K, in California’s 4th Congressional District. The Jessica Morse for Congress campaign today announced that she has outraised incumbent Tom McClintock in the 4th Congressional District.

In the 4th quarter FEC report, Morse raised more than $291,000 and had more than $488,000 cash on hand. McClintock raised about $215,000 in the same quarter, and had only $462,000 cash on hand.

Morse is one of the only challengers in the country to outraise an incumbent running for reelection and to have more cash on hand than the incumbent.

“This is all thanks to our incredible supporters,” said Jessica Morse. “Our fundraising consists of over 2,000 individual contributions. I am entering the political arena with a deep and sincere desire to serve and that is inspiring people to invest in a political race who have never engaged in politics before. I remind everyone that if we want to get big money out of politics, we have to get ‘little money’ in. I am so humbled and grateful for the grassroots support behind our campaign and excited to bring back real representation to our district.”

Cash on hand is a crucial measure of campaign viability, as it means the Morse campaign will be able to out-organize and out-communicate Tom McClintock.

Jessica’s campaign has raised a total of over $554,000 in the two quarters she has been in the race. In her first quarter (Q3), Jessica raised $263,000, which was more money than was raised by any previous challenger to McClintock during an entire campaign cycle since he was elected in 2008. By comparison, McClintock raised less than $150,000 and only had $354,000 cash on hand in the third quarter (Q3).

Morse is a former national security strategist with over a decade of service with the Defense Department, State Department, and USAID. She has worked across the world, including more than a year in Iraq at the height of the war. In Congress, Morse will focus on promoting job creation, investing in fire prevention, and protecting our natural resources, including through water conservation and forest management.

Morse lives in Pollock Pines. She is a fifth-generation northern Californian whose ancestors crossed the Sierra in covered wagons and settled outside of Auburn, where Morse and her family still own and manage two hundred acres of forestland today.
