Bear Valley Cross County Trails Open For The Season

Bear Valley, CA...Paul Says: Saturday 1/27/18 at 7:30am: Today is the long awaited and highly anticipated opening day! There are 15 meadow trails (snowcat groomed) with double track and skate lane for striding, ski skating and snowshoeing. They are open from 9am to 4:30pm and the conditions are great! Take a spin out to the trailside Meadow Café for lunch on the deck from 11am to 3pm. The tubing ($16 per person) and sledding areas ($14 per person) are open from 9am to 4pm for 2-hour sessions, with the last session going out at 2:00pm. (Children must be at least 3 years old to participate.) The weather is clear and beautiful this weekend and we hope you will come up and join us for some winter fun!

Bear Valley lies in the heart of the Central Sierra between the Mokelumne and Carson Iceberg Wilderness areas. You will enjoy an extensive trail system of over 3,000 acres. Amenities include 38 trails carefully groomed for track and skate skiing and snowshoeing, the trailside Meadow Cafe, a complete rental, demo and retail facility, 4 trailside huts, picnic tables, park benches, two kids' ski trails, a waxing hut, groomed downhill practice area and a sledding/tubing facility. The elevation of 7,000 to 7,800 feet guarantees first to open (usually mid November) and last to close (usually mid April) status among Sierra cross country centers. Trails are open from 9am to 4:30pm daily. Bear Valley Cross Country is the Tahoe Alternative.

Bear Valley Village offers a variety of lodging options, all walking or skiing distance from the trails. From ski in, ski out cabin rentals, to family friendly condos and a classic ski lodge, you will find a nice place to stay. Bear Valley is a short drive from the Bay Area. With no stop lights for over 35 miles and little traffic and no avalanche areas, all-weather Highway 4 (now a National Scenic Byway) is an easy driving route to your next winter recreation adventure. Nearby Bear Valley Mountain, one of California's finest mid-sized snow sport destinations, has all the amenities you come to expect at a modern area including 9 lifts and nearly 2,000 vertical feet of super scenic runs.

The Cross Country Center converts to the Bear Valley Adventure Company in the summer with bike rentals, sales and repair, flatwater kayak school and rentals, a variety of special events and races and is your connection to all of Bear Valley's summer adventures.

We have 125 pairs of new XC skis in stock, our service department is open and the new winter clothing and gift items are looking great. Please stay in touch, come shop our sale and remain excited for a wonderful winter of fun!
