"Businesses with a heart say No to Destructive Logging Practices~By Josh Bridges

"Press conference and event to honor participants in the Ebbetts Pass Forest Watch and Forest Ethics “Save the Sierra” business sign-on campaign. Ebbetts Pass Forest Watch (EPFW), a community-based organization in Arnold, California, along with its local and statewide supporters, has been a leader since 2000 in the movement to stop the massive clearcutting being conducted by Sierra Pacific Industries across the Sierra Nevada. As part of its ongoing ....

education and advocacy activities, EPFW and its partner Forest Ethics have been identifying California businesses demanding an end to destructive logging and a return to selective timber harvest. Hundreds have signed on so far, indicating the importance of this issue to the business community.

WHAT: On February 14, EPFW will be releasing the results to-date of its “Save the Sierra” business sign-on campaign at a press conference and Valentine’s Day reception in Murphys, California. Representatives from several businesses will be honored for their commitment and leadership. The honorees will speak about the relationship of clearcutting to them and their businesses."

WHEN: 1:00 - 2:00pm, Thursday, February 14th, 2008

1:00 - 1:30 – Press Release and business representative comments

1:30 – 2:00 – wine and chocolate reception

WHERE: Murphys Library, 480 Park Lane (Next to Murphys Park) in Downtown Murphys, California.
