"Happy Valentine’s Day Female Readers"~From Jenny Baxter of Jenny's Kitchen
We are known for our romantic candle lit dinners on this day of romance. Our skill at setting a beautiful table with all the red and pink heart decorations, spending the entire afternoon preparing his favorite meal and making sure his favorite beverage is on hand announces how much we care. He will surely be expecting this, right? Well, now is the time to show him just how creative and caring you can be...
Step away from the mundane and ordinary and really treat him as the special Valentine he is to you.
Let me set the stage.
A week before Cupid is to arrive, send him a romantic card each day via email, in his lunchbox, briefcase or slip it under his pillow.
Meet him at the door with a flute of chilled champagne in which you have dropped a couple frozen grapes. As you hand it to him whisper in his ear that this Valentine’s Day will show him how much you really care. Help him off with his coat and then slip off his shoes. Take him by the hand into the living room and seat him on the sofa. Swing his legs around to your lap and give him a much needed foot massage as you continue to refill his glass. And when he comments on how relaxed he feels and thanks you, which he better, tell him the evening is just getting started.
Lead him down the candle lit path to the bedroom where you have laid out an assortment of warmed massage oils and lotions. After his massage is finished and he is lying back in dreamland get his shower water ready.
As he is showering you are changing the sheets and placing brand new ones where the lotion and oil marked ones once were. As he steps out of the shower hand him a fluffy towel you have warmed in the dryer.
Fluff his pillow inviting him to sit down on the bed. Place the decorative food laden tray between the two of you and feed him some wonderful tasty finger food that you did not have to spend the entire day preparing.
And now that you have fed his spirit, mind, body and soul turn on that old black and white movie and cuddle with him.
Ladies I cannot tell you what this gesture of love will bring you! He will forever be grateful to this evening of pleasurable events and will bend over backwards to show you how much he cares. This is a win-win situation!
And now a few items for you to choose from for your tray of love.
Valentine Pleasure Platters
Chilled steamed asparagus spears wrapped in Proscuitto
Grilled skewered shrimp basted with lemon butter
Sausage stuffed mushrooms
Deviled eggs with capers
Miniature quiches (and yes, real men do eat quiche)
Oysters on the half shell
Marinated grilled lamb chops
New potatoes with sour cream and chives
Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms
½ pound bulk Italian sausage
2 finely minced shallots
Tablespoon olive oil
Toe minced garlic
2 Tablespoons chopped parsley and basil
8 ounces cream cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
12 stuffing mushrooms
Parmesan cheese
Break the sausage up in a frying pan and cook over medium heat. Remove from the pan and allow the meat to cool. In the mean time add the olive oil to the same pan and sauté the shallots and garlic. Add this to the sausage. Add the herbs and the seasonings. Mix. Add the cream cheese and thoroughly combine.
Pull the stems off the mushrooms and wipe the caps with a damp paper towel. Divide the mixture between the mushrooms and place them on a slightly oiled baking pan. Sprinkle the tops with the cheese. Bake at 450 degrees 15 minutes. Serves 3-4
Well, it thyme to get things ready for my valentine.
