Nothing like paying attention and driving too fast.
I hope you're ok, but I hope your vehicle is totaled.
That way, maybe you'll be more cautious next time behind the wheel.
Have a great vehicle-less day

Do you know that from the police report? I'm a very cautious driver who does not speed and once hit a patch of black ice coming around a corner in that area. Rolled my vehicle and landed upside down on a fallen tree that creased my roof down the middle inches from my head. Though my vehicle was totaled, I felt grateful to be alive. I also don't think there was anything I could have done differently to prevent that accident.

Since you're driving where it gets below freezing, why didn't you have Winter Tires on your vehicle? There's your first problem.
Studded Tires work, so do the softer Winter Tires. Though if your driveway is step and the tires spin, so will the studs. You also failed to mention was there snow?
Did you have 4 wheel drive and was it engaged? Did you have all wheel drive? 2 wheel drive? Were chains required? Most accidents can be avoided, but then you might have to pay more money to help prevent them, like the right type of tires for instance.
Don't get me wrong, glad to see you made it out of that situation and I bet your more cautious when it comes to driving in the high country or freezing conditions.
Most people drive to fast as it is and it matters not what the weather conditions are. For an example, go down hwy 4 for about 25 miles doing the speed limit. Let's say, start at Angels and see how many people tailgate you or pass you. Then let some people get by you if you're feeling uneasy, then start out again and see how many times the dummy's do it again.
      Stay safe.

It's people like you that can't face the truth. There are stupid drivers out there that refuse to slow down in any condition. They constantly speed and have not regard for anyone. They put themselves in danger especially on these mountain roads in the winter time. Look at me I have an all wheel drive vehicle so I can go as fast as I want and I won't spin out. Give me a break and face reality.
