    I'm pretty sure the first quote bears a typo and is not a reference to what our county is becoming, in addition to becoming a giant "pot hole.": "...many challenges facing the Calaveras Sheriff’s Office and Calaveras County a whole." (the last two words)

      Plus he works for the Amador DA’s office. He must have forgot the word “Amador” before DA Investigator.

    To benefit our county, we need a sheriff who is willing to be open minded in dealing with the states progressing marijuana industry. Someone who claims the quality of life has gone down in our county since legalization should not be considered
    open minded enough to be trusted with forming rational decisions concerning our safety.

      Where have you been? It already is legal here. It's commercial cultivation that is damaging the county at least five fold. Please do not mislead.

    You might try reading his website;

    "Gary is the only candidate running for Sheriff who is against commercial marijuana activity, and he advocates for a ban on commercial marijuana activities in Calaveras County. The future of our environmental health, and the overall health and well being of our county is in danger as we speak. The degradation it is causing in our community and our schools will have long term negative consequences. "

        Maybe if she had the funds to conduct prosecutions she wouldn't have to plea bargain. Prosecuting someone isn't cheap.

        The best approach might be set the bail high and let them forfeit it by leaving the state never to be seen again. It's a win-win.

      What are you talking about losing quality of life?? This county is just fine, it can handle a little pot. If anything there will be less opioid and meth abuse in our area. (The real drugs that hurt people in our community.) Why is it necessary to make our county look like it is infested with crime? This is probably one of the safest places in California. Go join angels PD Stevens, we need someone who can think clearly, not thinking about how weed stinks all day.

          Id vote for anyone one of these guys as long as they do their job.

          Friday guy, with meth, stolen guns and money was arrested in Angles. He was out on monday. Walking free in Arnold.

          Guy who broke into gas station already out.

          Kyle the homeless bike/guitar thief openly bragging with pics of houses he has broken into. He's walking free.

          Arnold has gone to crap. Start arresting these people. If you let them out right away they aren't going to respect the law.

            They get out because the not so great state of California has lessened most crimes to misdemeanors and the libtards voted for this...... judges can only follow the law, they really do not have much discretion in keeping the losers in jail..... the losers know this and have absolutely no incentive to stop their activity, no punishment equals a free for all.......

            A lot of the Arnold crap is generational. By now there is at least 4 generations of criminals in some local families. Hell, some of them were shooting heroin or crank in the hungry prospector parking lot. That was in the deputy gary and Joel days. That was a pair to draw to.

In speaking with Gary in many many events here in Calaveras County,Gary shows great concern for our way of life and listens with great concern for what has been happening to our enviroment. He has educated himself on the issues before us and I believe he can do a good job as Sheriff.

    That is incorrect. Ask Colorado. They not only have a Black Market, they now have a Grey Market where folks continue to buy illegally because it's cheaper. Why don't you ask about the 33 out of 63 counties and municipalities in Colorado who have complete bans, including dispensaries despite the fact the state has legalized marijuana. They banned for economic, among other reasons. How are they doing in these communities with bans? Just fine.
