Modesto Man Arrested for Attempting to Provide Material Support to A Terrorist Organization

Modesto, CA...A federal complaint was unsealed today, charging Everitt Aaron Jameson, 26, of Modesto, with attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization, Attorney General Jeff Sessions and United States Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced. Jameson was arrested today and is scheduled to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Barbara A. McAuliffe in Fresno, California at 2pm.

According to court documents, Jameson had several online interactions with a confidential source in which he expressed support for the October 31, 2017, terrorist attack in New York City and offered his services for “the cause.” In subsequent communications with an undercover agent, Jameson referred to his training in the U.S. military and noted he had been trained for combat and war. Jameson later met with another undercover agent whom he believed to be associated with the senior leadership of the foreign terrorist organization, ISIS (the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham, also known as ISIL). During his interactions with this undercover agent, Jameson offered to carry out violent acts and to provide financial support for the terrorist organization.

"The Department of Justice works resolutely every day to prevent terrorist attacks," said Attorney General Sessions. "In my time back at the Department, nothing has impressed me more. Today, our incredible law enforcement officers have once again helped thwart an alleged plot to kill Americans. I want to thank the FBI agents and federal prosecutors and everyone else who helped make this possible. The threat from radical Islamic terrorism is real—and it is serious—but the American people can be assured that the Department of Justice remains vigilant in protecting our homeland."

U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert stated, “I want to express my thanks to the FBI for working in partnership with my office on this case. We are grateful that our hardworking law enforcement partners remain vigilant in protecting our communities, especially during this holiday season.”

This case was the product of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorneys Dawrence W. Rice and Christopher D. Baker are prosecuting the case, together with Trial Attorney Brenda Sue Thornton from the U.S. Department of Justice’s National Security Division, Counterterrorism Section.

If convicted, Jameson faces a maximum statutory penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Any sentence, however, would be determined at the discretion of the court after consideration of any applicable statutory factors and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which take into account a number of variables. The charges are only allegations; the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

I'm waiting for them to arrest Donald J. Trump. He is the terrorist who is putting the US most at risk. Just for starters, Trump has inflamed N. Korea and increased the prospect of nuclear war, he has destabilized the Middle East by suggesting Jerusalem is the capitol of Israel, he has undermined the free press and he has divided the US population like no previous president. Lock him up.

The penny-ante terrorists such as the guy in this story will never kill as many people in a year as drunk drivers kill in a month. It is only the scaredy cat right-wingers who tremble at the thought of "radical Islamic terrorists," to use their term which they believe magical. But go ahead tiny men - thump your chests and tell us what YOU would do to them.

"I'm waiting for them to arrest Donald J. Trump."

Let's see... between the Clinton machines' opposition researchers, and the liberal run FBI (Funny Business, Inc.), they have tried every underhanded trick in the book to find something to nail him with, and they haven't found a thing. You may want to NOT hold your breath while waiting.

" He is the terrorist who is putting the US most at risk. Just for starters, Trump has inflamed N. Korea and increased the prospect of nuclear war, he has destabilized the Middle East by suggesting Jerusalem is the capitol of Israel, he has undermined the free press and he has divided the US population like no previous president."

So your solution would be to play nice with North Korea? A terrorist nation? Whatever happened to "we don't negotiate with terrorists"? Oh that's right, Obama threw that out when he went on his apology tour. Let's just placate people who want to do us harm - geeze, I sure hope you don't have teenagers in your house.

And as far as "suggesting" that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, you need to do a little homework. First of all, he didn't suggest, he acknowledged. Big diff. Also, every state/government building in Israel is already in Jerusalem. Only the apologists put their embassies in Tel Aviv.

Oh, and by the way, you may want to have a second look at how "stable" the middle east is. Um, have you SEEN Syria lately? The middle east has been unstable for all of my life, and I'm effing old.

As far as dividing this country? I've lived through the 60's and I have NEVER seen racial tensions as high as they were under Obama's watch. Nor have I ever witnessed so much race baiting as I did during the Obama Administration. Not saying that Obama alone was responsible, but the constant engaging in "white shaming" by his administration put this country back 50 years in terms of race relations. Seriously, can you say you have ever seen so many race related riots in such a short time? I don't think so.

So you go ahead and wait. You eat up the 97% negative news stories about Trump. While you're at it, why don't you give back the tax break you'll be getting, and ask all the newly employed to go back on unemployment (including minorities that will be helped). Have fun with your hating.

Two Trump campaign officials indicted and another plead guilty; former National Security Advisor Flynn plead guilty. Donald Trump Jr. released e-mails showing he, Kushner and others from campaign met with Russian agents in hopes of getting dirt on Hillary. Donald Trump the candidate went on tv at about the same time promising a press conference in which he would reveal very damaging dirt on Hillary, so he clearly knew about and approved the meeting with Russian agents. These facts are irrefutable. There is surely more to come, but there is already plenty of evidence of Trump's knowing about and accepting Russian help.

There is no evidence that the FBI investigation of either Clinton or Trump has been compromised. There is evidence that some of the agents involved personally preferred and supported Clinton, as is their right. It would be insane to think a Republican president can only be investigated by agents who politically support him. No one in the GOP complained when Ken Starr was investigating Bill Clinton even though Starr's Republican politics were well known. Your FBI "facts" are entirely made up and promoted by Trump tv, previously known as Fox News.

As for inflammatory e-mails by investigators, would you agree that Congressional investigations are supposed to be impartial searches for truth rather than partisan witch hunts? If so, what do you suppose e-mails among GOP members of those committees would look like compared to the FBI e-mails that have your hair on fire? How do you respond to Kevin McCarthy's statement during the campaign that the House's Benghazi Committee was set up for the explicit purpose of undermining Hillary's trustworthiness? That moment of honesty was so distressing to even the GOP that McCarthy lost his chance to be Speaker.

No one suggested N. Korea is not a big problem. But most of us hope for a US policy to deal with N. Korea that is not centered on our president responding like a 3rd grader at recess. Trump has not solved the problem, he has simply made himself (and indirectly all of us) an international laughingstock.

Trump's acknowledgment (I'll grant you that term) that Israel views Jerusalem as its capitol made peace in that conflict harder to achieve and removed any ability for the US to be seen as an honest broker between Israel and the Palestinians (as the Palestinians have now directly stated). It is reported that most of the adults in Trump's administration (eg., Mattis, Tillerson, etc.) opposed Trump's statement about moving our embassy to Jerusalem. Our EU allies also opposed it, further weakening that alliance.

Trump is an incompetent and failed president.
