Angels Camp City Council Approved Contracts for New City Administrator & City Attorney

Angels Camp, CA....The City Council has approved contracts for a new City Administrator and City Attorney.  Melissa Eads will become the City’s new City Administrator.  Douglas White, through his Sacramento Law Firm Churchwell White, will become the new City Attorney. Eads will begin her position at the City on January 16, 2018 and White will take over the City Attorney responsibilities January 2, 2018.  Their contracts were approved at the Council’s meeting on December 19, 2017.

Eads, who grew up in Calaveras County and graduated from Bret Harte High School will be leaving her position as a deputy county administrator for San Joaquin County.  Before holding that position, she was the Executive Director for the Calaveras Council of Governments from 2011 to 2017.    According to outgoing administrator Mary Kelly “Melissa has a strong work ethic, is committed to the community and cares about the citizens and staff. The City is fortunate to have attracted someone with Melissa’s experience and character.”

White is also presently the City Attorney for Sonora and Dixon.  He is a co-founder of Churchwell White and specializes in municipal law.  He has received a number of honors for his accomplishments as a lawyer, including being named as a “Superlawyer” in Superlawyers Magazine and as “Best of the Bar” honoree in the Sacramento Business Journal.

Eads will replace Mary Kelly, who has recently announced her retirement and has served as City Administrator since January of this year.   White will replace Derek Cole, who held the City Attorney position since December 2012.
