Major Injury DUI Collision on Hwy 4 near Hunt Road

Copperopolis, CA...David Michael Barnett was driving a Ford pickup towing a boat trailer westbound on State Route 4 (SR-4), west of Hunt Rd. A Castro Valley man and his passenger were riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on SR-4 west of Hunt Rd, approaching Mr. Barnett. Another Castro Valley man was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on SR-4 west of Hunt Rd behind the Harley. Another party was driving a Mini coupe eastbound on SR-4, behind a motorcycle. Another party was driving a Honda sedan westbound on SR-4 behind Vehicle the Mini.

Due to his level of intoxication, Party 1 allowed his vehicle to travel to the left across the solid double yellow centerline, directly into the path of Party 2 and Party 3, causing Party 2 and Party 3 to take evasive action to avoid a collision. Both motorcycles rolled over, causing their riders and passengers to be ejected. Vehicle 1 continued westbound in the eastbound lane toward Vehicle 4. Party 4 saw Vehicle 1 approaching him so he applied Vehicle 4's brakes. Party 5 saw Vehicle 4 coming to a stop in front of her, but was unable to stop before the front of Vehicle 5 collided with the rear of Vehicle 4. Party 1 steered Vehicle 1 to the right to avoid Vehicle 4 and 5, and Vehicle 1 traveled past Vehicle 4 and 5, across the roadway, and onto the north shoulder where it came to a stop.

Party 1 was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Additional Person Involved: Driver Karyn Elizabeth McQueen; Party #5; 34; Female; Safety equip used; Mountain House, CA; Direction of Travel (East); 2014 Honda; transported to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for suspected minor injuries.

This collision is still under investigation.

That makes for a bad day for all those involved. One of the very few times the Hog riders were not the cause of the accident.

The re-alignment can't happen soon enough

It will be nice once the re-alignment starts in a few years. That stretch is a death trap.

...and if they could pave hunt road while they are at it.

The correct contraction is ‘you’re.’ Perhaps you don’t know as much as you think you do.

Maybe you should go back to school and pay attention this time?
You know, since you like to give advise, maybe you'll listen to some, for your own good.
he he he we all know he doesn't like to receive advise, just likes to dish it out.

How embarrassing that you misspell "advice" as "advise" while you are scolding someone for not paying attention in school and misspelling "your". I would explain to you the different meanings of the words but I don't think you'd understand.

That stretch requires people to simply slow down and pay attention. There have been more accidents since the "improvement" at Pool Station Rd than there were before it was done. This incident can't really be blamed on the road when the person causing the problem was drunk..

Highway 4 Needs to be Fixed!!!
Posted on: 2017-10-31 18:08:35   By: Anonymous

People "should" slow down - but they don't. Therefore innocent people get injured or killed due to those who do not slow down. SOOOO Highway 4 needs to be straightened and leveled, and made safer - not necessarily for those driving too fast but for the innocent people getting hit by them!

Maybe if people didn't drive drunk would help? What do you think, fix the hwy or don't drive while intoxicated? mm, tough one, huh?
Drunk driver, not paying attention? gosh tough decision. Or, how many people drive that way, that stretch of the road way, everyday and pay attention and don't crash?
decisions, decisions, maybe you could ask some 5th grade students and get a logical decision to help you with that?

One bad actor, and a bunch of death hounds almost meet their maker.

Severe punishment for the imparred.

Retire the obsolete bikes and live well.

Bikes offer zero protection from high energy events.

Back when the national speed limit was 35, and only few drove, bikes were but an occasional nuance at best.

Now they are unsafe at any speed.

Another *star* for alcohol
Posted on: 2017-11-01 05:44:27   By: Anonymous

Looks like a fun day on the water, catching fish, popping a few cold ones, having a great day, bummer you had to hook up the boat and leave drunk.
Well I hope the injuries the guy caused are not too bad and everyone of those victims are able to get back to their normal lives again.

Just wondering, where are the idiots who blame marijuana on everything?
Oh, probably at the bar having a few drinks.
They'll be here weighing in soon I'm sure, with their incoherent, self righteous, idiotic blabbering.
At least we're not saying Condolences to the family and friends....yet.

I agree with you that alcohol has tremendous societal impact. Too bad we are now going to great lengths to impair the population further.

Oh well, I guess it guarantees your voting demographic. Keep them stupid is the governments driving agenda.

The dopers cause untold carnage too. It's just unpopular to report on it.
