Murphys Man Arrested On Drug & Weapons Charges

Angels Camp, CA...On October 26, 2017 at approximately 9:45 AM, an officer from the Angels Camp Police Department observed a Jeep Wrangler driving northbound on Hwy 49 near Copello Drive without a front license plate, and the vehicle’s oversized tires were protruding beyond the vehicle’s fenders by more than 3 inches. The officer stopped the vehicle on Hwy 49 near Carol Kennedy Drive.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 41 year old Murphys resident, Christopher Friday. Friday was found to be driving on a suspended license and was issued a citation for driving without a valid license.

Prior to inventorying the vehicle's contents and impounding the vehicle, an Angels Camp PD K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. While inventorying the vehicle the officer located a handgun that was reported stolen in an out of county burglary, a second unregistered handgun, 2 knives, 10 syringes, a large rubber band, .3 grams of methamphetamine, ammunition, a digital scale, and a marijuana smoking pipe. Due to follow-up investigation related to the recovered stolen handgun, additional details cannot be released at this time.

Friday was arrested and booked in to the Calaveras County Jail for the following offenses:

25850(c)(1)PC – Convicted Felon Carrying a Loaded Firearm
25850(c)(2)PC – Carrying a Stolen Firearm
25850 (c)(4) PC – Carrying a Firearm While Prohibited by Law
25850 (c)(5) PC – Convicted Narcotic Offender Carrying a Firearm
25850 (c)(6) PC – Carrying an Unregistered Firearm
29800(a)(1) PC – Possession of a Firearm by Felon/Addict
30305(a)(1) PC – Possession of Ammunition While Prohibited by Law
11370.1(a)HS – Possession of a Controlled Substance While Armed
11377(a) HS – Possession of a Controlled Substance

Angels PD has been doing a great job in finding and arresting felons recently even though the arrests are not in Angels Camp. Don't know how they are doing it, but hope they keep it up.

Make no mistake, ACPD knows exactly who is driving through their city. Whether for an expired tag or you just kind of glide through the stop, they are watching and waiting for a reason to pull you over. Please feel free to pass this info on to your friends.

Off the streets for a long time? Maybe, maybe not.
Unfortunately it seems more often then not, our local Judges
set bail out much too low and these criminals get out. Even
for felons with a weapon. The only reasoning I can come up
with is the cost of keeping criminals in jail awaiting trial and sentencing.
Let's hope they keep these guys locked up and they can't post bail
to continue their life of prosperity selling drugs and stealing from us.

I'm guessing bail most likely will not get posted. Even tho, loaded firearms? And one was stolen? Doesn't that warrant a very long PRISON sentence? It should!

It doesn't matter how long the sentence is, Jerry Brown will let him right back out as long as he promises not to go into Jerry's neighborhood.

Bail is not the issue, it’s prosecuting them and sending them to prison, that’s the trick.
