Completion of 21-Mile Paving Project Brings Improvements on State Routes 4 & 49 in Calaveras County
CALAVERAS COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has recently completed a $3.6 million roadway surface rehabilitation project to repave over 21 combined miles of highway on State Route 4 (SR-4) and SR-49 in Calaveras County.
Construction occurred on approximately 14.7 miles of eastbound and westbound SR-4 from Six Mile Road (west of Vallecito), to Davis Ranch Road (just east of Douglas Flat). Construction also occurred on approximately 6.8 miles of northbound and southbound SR-49 from the Calaveras/Tuolumne County line to just north of Sonora Street in Angels Camp.
This project will improve the road surface, efficiency of travel and safety for motorists traveling throughout Calaveras County.
Caltrans would like to extend its appreciation to motorists and residents for their patience during this project.
