Angels Camp Mourns the Loss of A Very Special Woman Today, Joanne Whittle

Angels Camp, CA...Joanne Marie Whittle died of natural causes on Sunday, Januarry 27, 2008, at her home in Angels Camp. She was 73. A native of Angels Camp, Mrs. Whittle was born November 3rd, 1934. She attended Altaville Grammar School and graduated from Bret Harte High School in 1952. She went on to graduate from Heald Business College....


She worked at Calaveras Cement until 1957, was a homemaker until 1967 and then worked at California Electric Steel Foundry for 13 years. She bought the foundry with a partner in 1980. Mrs. Whittle enjoyed traveling, her grandchildren and cooking.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Loren Whittle of Angels Camp; son Bruce and his wife, Karen Whittle of Angels Camp; daughter Jeanne and husband William Stiers of Pleasanton; brothers Lauren Crespi of Murphys and Robert Crespi of Concord; sister Francine Rossi of Saratoga; and grandchildren Lindsay, Quinn, Danny, Aubrey, Blair, Garrett and Genevive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Irene Crespi.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 30th, from 1-7pm, at the Angels Memorial Chapel. A rosary was held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Angels Memorial Chapel. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 31st, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Angels Camp.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
