Update on SR-49 Traffic Collision from 09/20/17

Columbia, CA...The driver of the Ford F-250 from yesterday’s traffic collision has been identified as 45 year old San Andreas resident Renee Ilene Hogan. She is still in critical but stable condition at UC Davis Intensive Care Unit. On September 20, 2017, at approximately 1015 hours, a 3 axle Peterbilt dump truck loaded with sand was traveling northbound on SR-49 south of Springfield Road at approximately 45 mph. A Ford F-250 pick-up truck was traveling southbound SR-49 south of Springfield Road at an unknown speed.

This location is just north of the city of Sonora. The Ford F-250 crossed over the double yellow lines into the northbound lane, colliding with the Peterbilt head on. The Peterbilt dump truck overturned blocking both lanes of SR-49 and spilling the load of sand onto the roadway. The Ford F-250 sustained major damage and subsequently caught on fire.

The driver of the Ford F-250, 45 year old San Andreas resident Renee Ilene Hogan, sustained major injuries in the collision and was flown to UC Davis. She was the only occupant of the Ford F-250. The driver of the dump truck, 57 year old Modesto resident, Larry Robinson Jr sustained minor injuries. He was the only occupant of the Peterbilt.

Emergency personnel and Caltrans set up a detour around the scene of this collision. The roadway reopened at approximately 1447 hours.
