What’s Happening in Murphys this Week – Through September 15, 2017

Murphys, CA...Try out the Saturday Hopper bus service running between Valley Springs and Arnold with stops in Murphys! Saturdays in Murphys - Walking Tours of Historic Downtown Murphys are available at no charge (donations gratefully accepted) on Saturday mornings at 10am leaving from the Old Timers Museum. Please contact Jo Sanders at 209-728-3072 to confirm dates and times or make arrangements for large groups. Wednesday through Sunday – Guided Tours at Ironstone Vineyards - Take a complimentary guided tour beginning in the tasting room (offered Wednesday – Sunday only) at 1:30pm. September 12, 2017 - Monthly meeting of the Western Sierra Celtic Society, which is a non-profit organization that promotes the culture, music and history of Ireland and Scotland. Members do not need to have Irish or Scottish family ancestry, own a kilt or live in the immediate area. Arrive before the 7 p.m. meeting and enjoy a no-host Irish meal and a pint. September 13, 2017 – Local’s Night at Milliaire - Join us for live music by Bob Eisenman Jazz Trio and food by La Esperanza Taco Truck. Select bottles of wine will be half price. You don’t have to be a local to hang out, but you will feel like one before you leave! Swing by every second and fourth Wednesday from June to September for some casual, Creekside patio fun.

September 14, 2017– Calaveras Uncorked with Brett Keller of Mineral Winery - Thursday from 6-7:30pm at The Historic Murphys Hotel Mark Twain Ballroom – Brett will will present a six-year vertical tasting of Meritage, wines blended from the famed Bordeaux regional varietals that are grown all around Calaveras County. Impacts of climate, soils and other viticultural factors will be discussed, as will the history and character of each of the grapes in each blend. Space is limited - visit www.calaveraswines.org

September 15, 2017 – Party in the Park - Another “Party in the Park!” is being planned for Friday evening starting at 5:00 pm, the event will include a no-host beer and wine bar, a gourmet catered meal and a concert with the talented and popular Magnolia Rhythm Trio. As this year’s event is a fundraiser for the church, there will be a silent auction and a raffle as well. Call 209-728-3141 for dinner tickets – don’t miss out, tickets are already selling quickly!

The show includes vintage motorycles, trailers and wooden boats as well as both restored and original automobiles. The 2017 event will also feature Plein Air Painters scattered throughout the beautiful grounds of Ironstone. Each artist will capture on canvas the ambiance and landscape, as well as the classic cars on display. Additional activities throughout the weekend include "Dinner Under the Stars", the Patron’s Tent, and Saturday afternoon live auction. Dinner Under the Stars is held on Friday evening, September 22. Proceeds benefit youth agriculture programs.
