Long Term Lane Closure on Hwy 49 from Angels Creek to the Calaveras/Tuolumne County Line

CALAVERAS COUNTY — The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various road construction work on State Route 49 (SR-49) from Angels Creek to the Calaveras/Tuolumne county line. Work will occur as follows: A long-term lane closure will be in effect with one-way traffic control on northbound and southbound SR-49 from Angels Creek to Centennial Lane through Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at 5:00 p.m. for road repairs due to an earlier slip-out; One-way traffic control on northbound and southbound SR-49 from Angels Creek to the Calaveras Tuolumne county line beginning Sunday, August 20, 2017, through Friday, August 25, 2017, from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. for paving work. Motorists should expect 10 minute delays. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE RED DIRT MUSIC AND GOLD DUST MUSIC FESTIVAL IS HAPPENING ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 19, 2017, AT THE CALAVERAS COUNTY FAIR GROUNDS. ATTENDEES TO THE FESTIVAL ARE ENCOURAGED TO CARPOOL AND SEEK ALTERNATE ROUTES IF POSSIBLE.

The work at this location is part of a project that will repave over 21 combined miles of highway on SR-4 and SR-49 in Calaveras County. This $3.6 million project has been awarded to George Reed, Inc. and is scheduled to be completed in October 2017.

This work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials and construction related issues.
