Calaveras Community Foundation presents Liz Darby Airola Scholarships for Nursing Students
Angels Camp, CA...Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) presented a scholarship at the recent Award Night event at Bret Harte High School. These two scholarships were from the Liz Darby Airola Fund for Nursing Students. Each scholarship is in the amount of $500. Bret Harte senior Natalie Huddy is entering the nursing field. She will be attending Dominican University. An excellent student, Natalie has been on the Principal’s Honor Roll during all 4 years of high school. This well-rounded young lady has been involved in several organizations and clubs as well as sports activities. Natalie has held two part-time jobs for the past 3 years. She took the Medical Science class as a senior allowing her to gain experience at Sonora Regional Medical Center and earn her phlebotomy license. She is dedicated to helping others through her nursing career.
Columbia College student, Amanda Hummel, is the 2nd recipient of this nursing scholarship. Amanda graduated from Calaveras High School and is on track to earn her Associates degree in nursing. Working in nursing fields prior to enrolling at Columbia College gave Amanda confidence and the determination to succeed in the healthcare field. She has had experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant as well as a Social Service Director/Admissions. Upon completion of her undergraduate classes, she plans to transfer to California State University in either Sacramento or Stanislaus in order to earn her BS-Nursing. She is driven to help people in need through this career choice.
Calaveras Community Foundation administers the Liz Darby Airola Fund for Nursing Students. To learn more about Donor Advised funds and about CCF, call the office at 736-1845 or visit the website at www.calaverascommunityfoundation.org
