Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) Awards Advanced Manufacturing Scholarships to Two Calaveras High School (CHS) Students

San Andreas, CA...During CHS award ceremonies, Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) presented Advanced Manufacturing Scholarships to CHS students, Dylan Rose and Marshall Biondi. Each received a $2,000 scholarship to begin their college studies in the Advanced Manufacturing field.

L-R, Dylan Rose and Marshall Biondi, Advanced Manufacturing Scholarship Winners for 2017

Dylan resides in Angels Camp with proud parents Sarah & Ryan Rose. Columbia College is where Dylan will pursue his career plans of becoming a welder and fabricator. His four-year involvement in FFA has taught him respect for the hardships farmers endure. He has held many, many offices & participated in several leadership conferences and won awards related to FFA. As an intern fabricator at Distinctive Metals, Dylan has earned respect and trust from those he has worked with and for.

Marshall plans to enroll at Modesto JC after graduation to fulfill his general education prerequisites. From there, transferring to UC Merced is Marshall’s plan where he would major in Mechanical Engineering. While at CHS, Marshall served as a peer mentor to help struggling students become more successful in school. The field of science has been an interest for Marshall for some time and this scholarship will help towards the fulfillment of that interest.

The Advanced Manufacturing Scholarship was made possible by a recent grant from the Gene Haas Foundation. To summarize Foundation Administrator, Kathy Looman and the Haas Foundation website, Haas Automation, founded in 1983, is the leading builder of CNC machine tools. Haas understands that the U.S. is experiencing skills gaps in manufacturing jobs and seeks to close those gaps by offering grants to graduating seniors.

CCF is grateful to the Haas Foundation for their generous grant.
