The Bill Welles Band At First Friday in the Park July 7th

Murphys, CA...The Bill Welles Band, playing a variety of styles from Americana and folk to blues and rock and roll, will be the featured performers when the Murphys Community Club’s First Friday in the Park event is presented July 7 starting at 5:30 p.m. in the cool confines of Murphys Community Park. In addition to Welles on guitar, the popular local band includes Ron Schaner on bass, Ray Price on drums, Jerry Solberg on keyboards, Larry Drummond on Mandolin, and Ras Beeken Dan on sax, flute, and percussion. The members share the vocal chores.

From June to September, the First Friday in the Park series features a performance by a popular musical group playing in the iconic gazebo starting at 5:30 p.m. From 4 p.m., tickets for a special dinner will be available for purchase at $10 per person and an excellent local wine will be on sale along with other beverages. This month, the Murphys Historic Hotel will be offering a menu of pulled pork sandwich, potato salad, corn on the cob, and a watermelon wedge.

Friends and neighbors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy a small town America happening. There is no admission charge and ample free parking is available nearby. Donations to help maintain the park are always gratefully received.

The Murphys Community Club is celebrating its 69th year of providing services and programs for the greater Murphys area. Its prime responsibility is the management and maintenance of the beautiful Murphys Community Park.

This is the eleventh year the club has presented First Fridays in the Park. These summertime events continue to grow in popularity and have fast become a Mother Lode tradition.

Murphys Community Park is located on Algiers St. in historic downtown Murphys. Membership in the Murphys Community Club is open to everyone and contributions are tax deductible. For further information, call 728-8093, or click on the Community Club link at visitmurphys.com.
