Bear Mountain Shaded Fuel Break Prescribed Burn On For Tomorrow
San Andreas, CA...The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) is conducting a Prescribed Burn on the Bear Mountain Shaded Fuel Break, west of Angels Camp around the Fowler Peak Lookout. This burn will be approximately 80 acres in size and will reduce the fuel loading around the critical infrastructure sites that are on the mountain top. These sites service numerous Local, State and Federal agencies along with several Private Communication Companies.
The burn will commence at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday June 14th and should be completed prior to 11:00 p.m. that evening. Resources utilized to conduct the burn include seven fire engines, one bulldozer and miscellaneous overhead personnel.
Resources will remain on scene throughout the night as well as the next day to ensure the site is completely controlled prior to turning the burn over to the sponsor.
