Moderate Injuries To German Woman When Rented Harley Went Down In Mokelumne Hill Area

Mokelumne Hill, CA...A 48 year old German woman was riding a rented 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on Hwy 49, north of Poverty Gulch at about 35 to 40 mph. As she started to negotiate a curve to her left, she was traveling too fast for the curve and had to lean the motorcycle so far to the left that the crash bars scraped on the roadway. She lost control of the motorcycle as it ran off the east roadway edge and up and embankment. The motorcycle rolled over and ejected her to the ground.

She sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Sutter Health Amador for treatment. As a note to the influx of riders in our area this time of year. We have lots of decreasing radius turns, off camber turns and many more road conditions that are not as prevalent in metropolitan areas.

Yes this area has many off camber and decreasing radius turns, finally the CHP is acknowledging that flatlanders can not ride worth a crap up here.

Finally, very intelligent post. Not only m/c's, cars with young drivers just don't see it coming. Until it happens to you, reactions and speed will "eat" you up. Worse than sitting at a dead stop making a left hand turn just waiting for a rear ended. That is why U.P. S. doesn't allow their drivers to make left hand turns. Off camber plus speed plus inertia = crash!!!

Its not that they don't "allow" them to make left turns, they actually turn left almost 10% of the time.

Harleys dont handle like BMWs. Crash bars cause crashes when ridden with spirit. Heal fast and keep riding

Got to love it, crash bars. Programed to fail. Unsafe at any speed.

We need to start billing these idiots for their crashes.
