Darlene Dooley Wood 1936 - 2017

Murphys, CA...Darlene Dooley Wood, affectionately referred to as “Dar” by her beloved husband Hugh, passed away on May 11th, 2017.  Darlene was born in Santa Barbara, CA on July 5, 1936.  Educated in the public school system and at the University of California Berkeley, Darlene was passionate about learning, philosophy, English and later she was passionate about the law, and became a respected attorney and people’s advocate for over 30 years.

Hugh and Darlene lived for many years in the beach community of La Jolla and then relocated to Murphys in 1974.  Darlene served on the local school board for several years, loved to play tennis, enjoyed her morning walks with the “Walking Ladies Group” and found rejuvenation in gardening and in practicing yoga. Such an integral part of the community and her family, Darlene was deeply loved and will be missed daily by many. Peace and joy is found knowing that her faith was steadfast to the very end, and she is now in heaven with her Lord and Savior, and with the many people she loved that have gone on before her.

Darlene D. Wood was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Hugh N. Wood. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Kathy (Bill) Geckeler, Lisa Wood and Laura Drammer; 5 grandchildren, Grant (Michelle) Geckeler, Bret Geckeler, Jenna Drammer, Mason Drammer and Hunter Evans; and 2 great-grandchildren, Aviana Geckeler and Leiden Geckeler; 3 siblings, Doni Dooley, Dennis (Geraldine) Dooley and David (Inez) Dooley, and many nieces and nephews.

Private Services will be held for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the Christian Family Learning Center, PO Box 880, Angels Camp, CA 95222.
