Hispanic Suspects Flee Unregistered Grow In Mountain Ranch As Eradication Team Moved In

Mountain Ranch, CA...On 05/22/2017 at approximately 9:00 AM, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputies with the assistance of Calaveras County Code Enforcement served a search warrant on a property located on the 8400 block of West Murray Creek Road in Mountain Ranch. The search warrant was conducted on an unregistered illegal marijuana grow.

As Deputies arrived at the location, two Hispanic males were seen fleeing into a heavily wooded area at the rear of the property. Deputies gave chase and searched the surrounding area, but were unable to apprehend the subjects. After a thorough investigation at the site 399 marijuana plants were seized. Additionally during a search of the area surrounding the grow site, Deputies located a snare placed along a small game trail.

The investigation into the identities of the persons involved is ongoing.

If you believe an unregistered marijuana grow has started near you, please call the Calaveras County Marijuana Enforcement Team Tip line at (209)754-6870.

Where did the perps find a "heavily wooded area" off West Murray Creek Road?
There's not much more than spindly burnt tree skeletons out there.
They can run but how did they hide?

They didn't have to hide. The cops didn't chase them of course. That is fact. How would two old white guys catch two young spics? The heavily wooded area is a ridge fully covered in burnt manzanita. No trees. The sheriffs laundry stipend would have been exhausted if they had chased them.

What money? The money to do what they did is not in and doesn't cover the cost of that weed. Money comes from product not junk. They have kick the can down the road to long. Bigger money in this county then they have. Product and the money is in full tilt folks...waited too long. The junk will disapate. Good product is and has been here to stay. They own this county. Good r bad. Move on.

Let's eradicate the registered grows that are still operating outside of the emergency ordinance and also revisit grows that we're initially turned down and appealed and won, some of them are still out of compliance and continue to be bad neighbors!!! Eradicate!!!

They weren't renting. They bought the property specifically to have an illegal grow.

These types of grows are already banned in the county.

With the revenue generated from registered tax paying grows, there is money to eradicate the illegal ones.

Support legal grows, shut down the illegal ones! It's legal in a few months, it's time to give this county more life. Wine or tabbacco country isn't filled with crime in general. If done legally, marijuana can be the same.

One thing that goes often over looked is if it's good for the smoking plant, it'll be good for the ones to produce hemp. Hemp could really take off in the upcoming years and could be a huge benefit to the area.

Banning will only promote illegal grows like this, that's what the illegals want, it will increase their profits dramatically. Why don't people understand that the ban has nothing to do with these grows only the legal ones that are paying into the sheriff's budget so the sheriff can do their job and shut them down. Please wake up people...

The sheriff's office finally has the funds to make these busts because of the legal growers. The illegals have always been here it's just that now we're doing something about it. Thank you sheriff and the legal business community, it's about time!
