First 5 Calaveras Soliciting Applications For Grant Funding

Calaveras County, CA...First 5 Calaveras has completed their Strategic Plan for 2017 – 2022 and is announcing a Solicitation of Applications for grant funding for specific services in Calaveras County. Services are to begin on July 1, 2017 and continue for up to three fiscal years, through June 30, 2020, with the intent to renew, after review, for two additional years.

Funding is targeted to provide services for children ages 0-5 years old, parents, caregivers, educators, and providers of children 0- 5 years old, and pregnant women.

The identified services are:
(Healthy Social-Emotional Development, Playgroups, Home Visiting)
(Kindergarten Readiness, Early Literacy, Quality Improvement System Support)
(Oral Health, Nutrition, Healthy Foods, Preschool Gardens, Physical Activities)

The total amount of funding will not exceed $294,000 in the first year, with an annual increase not to exceed 2% and is broken down to the following areas:
* Early Literacy $20,000
* Healthy Foods & Nutrition $32,000
* Healthy Social-Emotional Development $20,000
* Home Visiting $35,000
* Kindergarten Readiness Programs $10,000 each (up to 3 groups)
* Oral Health $75,000
* Physical Activity Program $20,000
* Play Groups $4,000 each (up to 3 groups)
* Preschool Nutritional Gardens Program $20,000
* Quality Improvement System Support (QIS) $10,000
* Safety & Social-Emotional Support $20,000

The specific required elements of these services are provided in detail in the Solicitation for Applications Guidelines and in the individual Applications.

Beginning Thursday March 30, 2017, an electronic copy of the Solicitation for Applications Guidelines and the Applications can be downloaded from the First 5 Calaveras Website:

Applications must be submitted to: First 5 Calaveras, 891 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas, CA 95249

Applications must be received no later than Thursday MAY 4, 2017 by 3:00 P.M.

I hope we can afford this. Better let them stinky farmers grow their medical marijuana so we keep getting that tax money. I see our majesty, King Brown is imposing more tax rates on his citizens. Funny how all those taxes we pay, never seems to get anything done up this way, it just serves his rule where all his loyal subjects live, not up here where people come to "get away from all of it" for a few weeks every year. Those millions from "medical" marijuana will be used up here instead of it all going down the drain to his domain and where his loyal subjects live and work.
