Temporary Bridge To Restore Public Access To White Pines Park, Moose Lodge & Beyond By May 1st!

White Pines, CA...Calaveras County Supervisor Michael Oliveira met with membwrs of the White Pines Park committee, Moose Lodge and community members to give an update on the county's progress on getting public access restored on Blagen Road after winter storms damaged a culvert. Supervisor Oliveira said the following..."I just received an update on the Blagen Road Bridge situation from Jeff Crovitz our Public Works Director for the County. The California office of emergency Services in conjunction with the Federal Emergency management Agency has accepted the required documentation and has completed visual inspections processing claims for the repair and reconstruction of the bridge area. We are waiting for final approval to purchase and install the bridge hopefully with th approval in the next few days. With that, we hope to have Public Access available by May 1st. depending on the weather and construction. Let's keep our fingers crossed."

The volunteers at the White Pine Park committee should be commended for keeping the pressure on the county to make sure that the Arnold area does not take a financial hit this summer during our peak visitor season.

He was a Marine? wow, I'm truly impressed.
Hillary Clinton tried to join the marines too. She said it, out of her own lips. Between trying to join the Marines, running from machine gun fire, and all of those other fantastic things she has done for our country and for others who worked under her, like the fine folks in our American embassy in Benghazi could you imagine if she were the Commander In Chief? Hells bells, she would of built this bridge herself in a few hours.
Well at least here's a start and access has been granted to you, by our politicians in action.

That is CCWD property that Michael is going to spend County money on. With all of the roads washed out and the mess from the Butte Fire they want to spend tens of thousands of dollars for a Park?? They are not the only show in town. There are plenty of places to go besides this park; it isn't going to be the end if they take the summer off.
Put money where it is needed not where Michael's friends want it.

Is this bridge the repair or a patch while they build a permanent bridge? If this bridge is permanent then a cheap way to fix the problem. If this is a purchase of a temporary bridge that will be Useless after the repair is done then it is a waste of county money. Then again the valley folk probably done know there are activities outside of White Pines. After all that is the only place to swim, hike, fish, right? Michael is good with spending peoples tax money. Probably the kickoff to the Olivera re-election campaign.

I'm with you, marijuana cultivation is bringing in a lot of money to our community and it's been here for longer then most people realize, you might as well tax it. Besides, after all those drunk people were in Murphys Saturday, I'd rather have marijuana smokers here then all of those drunks driving around. This is how Murphys brings in tourist, drunks and driving. That's showing our kids a great beginning in life.

They get washed into the lake from those garbage homes on the up hill side of hwy 4 in Arnold You know the ones I'm talking about? The ones when you're on the hwy and the homes look like a garbage pit with crap all over. Tourist drive up, look at the ghetto homes and keep driving up the hill.
There's talk now of targeting eyesore homes and issuing warning for now, if nothing is done, fines will be issued. If nothing is done after that the county steps in, cleans up the mess. It's a slow process but works. If the fine isn't paid along with the cost of the labor, a lien is placed on the house. That was brought up in the meeting, it was a solution that worked in some of the problem areas when trying to "beautify" East Palo Alto when new businesses came in because the land was some of the lowest priced in Santa Clara county, where EPA is resides. Two ghettos, two counties.

The idea of the park committee (and by the way where is this committee in the photograph, looks rather sparce) is saving Arnold is Wrong! There will still be fishing, disk golf, hiking around at White Pines. People will still come and spend money. The idea that White Pines keeps Arnold afloat is ignorant. It is a seasonal park. They ignore how these past two winter seasons alone has brought countless people and $$$ up from the valley. There are so many other possibilities up here for people to do outside that park. This is a Fear driven attempt to spend money that should go elsewhere. How about that sinkhole by Big Trees Market or the Meadowmont water issue. These retirees need a reality check; our financial survival does not come from White Pines. The lake is a connivence and not a make or break location.

What a butt-head. No one said White Pines Lake was the only good thing in Arnold, but it is one of just a few good public things that is actually in Arnold (alright, in White Pines). It is pretty busy in the summer and many are not Arnold residents. And if you are an Arnold resident, it is open to all, which Blue Lake Springs and Pinebrook ponds are not.

So I say thank you to the White Pines Park committee for pushing to keep the park and lake available. And clean. Well done.

I like visiting the White Pines area. I go in the morning and walk my two dogs there. I've meet some really nice folks who live there. I'm glad that they are addressing the problem and getting the ball rolling. It's a very nice place to enjoy a walk, hike and in the morning I find it's nice and quiet it's refreshing. As for the afternoon when it's populated might be a different story, but a big thanks to White Pines Park committee for staying on top of this situation.
