Alberta Mae Castle 1933~2017

Angels Camp, CA...Alberta Mae Castle, 84, passed away on March 1, 2017. She was born to James and Mae Chappell of Angels Camp and lived her entire life in Calaveras County. Married 67 years to Howard A.Castle she was preceded in death by a brother Clayton Chappell and son Guy David Castle. Alberta has a sister Betty Thomas of Jackson, and brother Leroy Chappell of Texas, two sons Jimmy (Jill) of Angels Camp, Dan ( Georgeanne) of Nine Mile Falls, Washington and Daughter in Law Jeanie Castle of Douglas Flat. Blessed with 9 grandchildren, Lucas Castle, Guy Castle, Lindsay Stump, Rachel Adams, John Castle, Naomi White, Heather Castle, Christopher Castle and Ashley Ladegard as well 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Alberta attended schools in Angels Camp and later worked for Dr. Dante Albasio for many years as his office medical receptionist along side good friend Alberta Bardsley. She enjoyed spending summers at the Castle cabin in Big Meadow with friends and would stay all summer, welcoming anyone who came by. Her main hobby included crocheting and she supplied several generations of family friends crocheted blankets for every new baby born or other special occasions.

And who couldn’t imagine coming from a trapshooting family, that Alberta also tried her hand at trapshooting at the Angels Gun Club and was the top Lady shooter in 1986. She also provided many hours helping in the kitchen during Gun Club activities. Her greatest joys were her 3 sons. Her quick wit and sense of humor kept many of their friends on their toes and several continued to visit Alberta though the years.

Visitation will be Friday March 10, 2017 from 1 to 6 P M at the San Andreas Memorial Chapel. Funeral Services to be held Saturday March 11, 2017 , 11 A.M. at San Andreas Memorial Chapel. Burial will be private. Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Bristol Hospice of Merced. Memorials may be given to Angels Gun Club or Bristol Hospice.

Such a great loss. Alberta was kind to me when ever I saw her when I was young at Dr Albasio's Office above Williams Auto Parts to when she worked at the Gun Club and I was one of those people stuffed in the Trap House. You will be greatly missed Alberta. RIP Dear Lady.
