Felony Arrest For Brandishing A Knife, Criminal Threats, & Resisting Arrest

Sonora, CA...On Wednesday February 8th, 2017, at around 12:45 p.m., Officers of the Sonora Police Department were dispatched the Enrichment Center on Hospital Road for a report of a man brandishing a knife. Officer Memmer arrived on scene and was directed to 30-year-old Levi Elden Coon, who was still inside of the building. When Officer Memmer attempted to detain Coon, he made an aggressive movement toward him. Officer Memmer and Sergeant Rogers were able to grab hold of Coon, but he continued resisting and had to be forced to the ground in order to be subdued and arrested. Thankfully, neither the officers nor Mr. Coon sustained injuries during the altercation.

During the subsequent investigation, it was determined that Coon had brandished a fixed blade knife and threatened another visitor of the establishment. Two knives were recovered at the scene, which Coon reportedly discarded prior to the arrival of Police. In addition the charges related to this incident, it was determined that Coon was wanted on a felony Calaveras County warrant for drug related charges. He was booked at the Tuolumne County Jail and his combined bail is set at $70,000.
