Presidents’ Day Wine Weekend ~ February 18th & 19th

Murphys, CA...The 21st annual Presidents’ Day Wine Weekend sponsored by the Calaveras Winegrape Alliance (CWA) will take place Saturday February 18th and Sunday February 19th. Presidents’ Wine Weekend is an opportunity for wine lovers to taste their way thru Calaveras County by purchasing a $25 commemorative glass and visiting over 22 participating wineries and tasting rooms while enjoying free limited-tasting flights of numerous award winning wines and exciting varietals offered by the best of Calaveras County’s wine community. Full tastings will be available in each tasting room for an additional fee with many participating wineries and tasting rooms offering live music, light bites and food samples as well as special offers on wine purchases.

As our 45th President takes over the highest office in the land, we honor the exceptional presidents of the past and their legacy and contributions to The United States of America on Presidents Day Wine Weekend. Visitors to Calaveras County’s wine region will find plenty of warm welcomes and hospitable spirit within our tasting rooms as they welcome participants to this highly anticipated two-day event.

Visitors traveling up from the valley via Hwy 4 can stop off at Copperopolis Town Square and purchase their glasses at The Tipsy Frog Wine Bar or by stopping in Downtown Angels Camp at Metate Vineyards new tasting room on Main Street. Glasses will also be available to purchase throughout the weekend at Coppermine Winery and Chatom Winery on Hwy 4 as visitors make their way into Murphy’s. Additional locations for wine glass purchases include Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys, Brice Station Winery east of Murphys, Val du Vino Winery on the corner of Main Street and French Gulch Road and Hatcher Tasting Room and Milliaire Winery on Main Street. Wineglasses will also be available to purchase on Saturday in front of the Native Sons Hall at 389 Main St., Murphys.

Participants are encouraged to have designated drivers for their enjoyment and safety and all designated drivers will be given identification entitling them to free and discounted perks at participating merchants. In addition, Calaveras Transit will be adding extra Saturday Hoppers’ to help shuttle participants from local hotels to Murphys with various winery stops in between. For a complete Saturday Hopper transportation schedule visit http://transit.calaverasgov.us/RiderTools/SaturdayHopper.aspx or call them at (209) 754-4450 for more information or to book large parties.
