They might be well paid but it is blood money in a storm. Long long hours and your tax rate goes up. I put in 42 years doing it.

Why doesn't PG&E have some type of larger power device that can provide power until stuff is fixed. I mean they are worth Billions.

Birth is not really good for you guys but it does nothing for me! Unfortunately it was the evil queen and the beast! I have been playing this since you guys should be paid for! But he has never seen any public support from the mainstream liberal media but he did nothing! Obama she looks like a queen of evil and evil queen! Nothing is better than being able to go take the rest of the night out with your garbage bag! Green Day will have the best shot ever!

Comcast

Comcast seems to be out too - ours in Meadowmont has been out all day and all I get is the run around from Comcast.

You're lucky to be able to get the run-around, here the modem dies, along with the phone to call them.

Seriously, if your power goes out then your Comcast internet and cable will stay on for 4 hrs after the outage. I know this because I have a generator and my power was out for 12 hrs.

...and if you don't have a generator, you have no modem to make the phone work.
As much as I hate AT&T, I'm going back after days of no phone, because of the quirkiness of Comcast.

When the power goes out & you have a traditional wired land-line, it still works, not Comcast.

This storm reminds everyone how important it is to have a hard wired phone, technology is good but nothing beats an old fashioned phone for times like this!

If you are living in the mountains then get a generator. You will need it when the power goes out for an extended period of time.

Look at the right side of this page! National News. It is all in Spanish or Mexican, I prefer it in English, the language of our nation. Your a duffs John, I hope this is a joke! By the way, if I wanted to read news in another language, I'd move there!

Sorry sometimes the Google News feed is surprisingly a bit flakey. Works about 90 percent of the time and then goes dark for a few min or gives us the Spanish one.

Oh you poor fool. So besides explaining how internet ad banners work, you could learn some things. First of all "Mexican" is as much of a language as "American" is, which somehow I'm first American is your first language. Also, the United States has no official language, which I would be in favor of.

So enjoyed the more humorous accounting of power outages yesterday but now this is getting very serious for many.

As far as internet goes, we went with Cal.net (formerly Hstar because of all the Comcast outages). Now there are so many fellow users that our services is congested and you can't even download a movie evenings and weekends when all are using and at home. Life in the foothills is grand but lack of good internet service gets tiring. Also agree two of the best choices we made were to invest in a generator and keep a landline.

I have Cal.net, too, and actually the other issue is "rain fade", where any amount of moisture in the air degrades the signal, especially if the tower you connect to is more distant. They indicated they will be upgrading the equipment in our area to better deal with rain fade...soon, but no promised date.
