Ambulance Versus Tree Trunk In Amador County
Sutter Creek,CA...At approximately 4:50 this morning, party one was driving a 2010 Ford ambulance eastbound on Ridge Road near Dapple Drive responding to a medical aid call with lights and siren activated at approximately 45 miles per hour. The driver suddenly observed a tree falling into his lane of travel from the south roadway edge.
The driver responded by accelerating vehicle in an attempt to avoid getting struck by the trunk of the tree. The driver was able to avoid the large mass of the pine trees trunk but the branches of the trees struck the ambulance, shattering the windshield, damaging the emergency lights and the roof. There were no injuries.
