Michael Jack Spadoni 1942-2017

Rail Road Flat, CA...Michael Jack Spadoni, of Rail Road Flat, CA died on January 12, 2017 at Avalon Health Care in San Andreas, due to complications from Alzheimer’s Disease. Mike was born on January 14, 1942 to Eva Jensen Spadoni and Gene Spadoni in San Francisco, CA. Mike graduated from Burlingame High School in 1959 and later served in the California State Army National Guard. He graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from California State University East Bay. He married Virginia Boyle and had two daughters, Theresa and Lisa.

For over thirty years Mike worked as a Professional Quality Engineer in the electronics industry and was employed by Raychem Corporation, Loral and Lockheed Martin in the Bay Area.

Mike married Judy Engels in 1987. In 1996 they moved from Burlingame to Rail Road Flat in Calaveras County, CA. Over the years, Mike donated his business expertise to many community organizations in the region. He was Treasurer of the Foothill Conservancy, Board Member of Calaveras Central Fire District, Treasurer of the West Point Rod and Gun Club and a Founding Board Member of the Blue Mountain Community Renewal Council.

Mike loved living in Rail Road Flat. Rural life suited him perfectly and he spent many happy hours tinkering, gardening, puttering and improving the Spadoni homestead.

He will be remembered for his affinity with people, sharp intellect and great sense of amusement.

Mike is survived by his wife Judy, daughters Theresa Storlie and Lisa Curtin, step-sons Marc Lawson and Eric Lawson and five grandsons.

At Mike’s request, no services will take place. Memorial donations to the Foothill Conservancy, World Wildlife Fund or the Alzheimer’s Association are suggested.

I had the distinct pleasure of serving on the board of Central Fire. What a marvelous sense of humor combined with a real appreciation for what the Fire District needed.

Alzheimer’s a nasty bugger. Someday hopefully they will find a cure for this and many other diseases......but..... Just looking at those eyes and grin he looks like quite a character.
To the family and friends, I'm sorry for your loss.
