Postponed Due To Waether~Mobile Pantry In West Point Today

West Point, CA...Due to the storm and the hazardous road conditions, our mobile pantry will not come to West Point today. We are postponing for a week - weather permitting we are rescheduling for next Tuesday, January 17th. Please give us a call at 754-1257 if you have any questions.

The Resource Connection’s Food Bank offers opportunities for eligible Calaveras County families and individuals to receive nutritious food at the main San Andreas site and at mobile pantries and food distribution locations throughout the County.

The roads to West Point are all clear and passable. It's sad to think the elderly and most vulnerable in our community will be going another week without food. For many people in that area this Food Bank truck is their main source of food. Shame on the Resource Connection for taking the easy way out of their day.

Maybe...

They didn't get their deliveries due to the inclement weather.
Those in need could possibly call and something could be arranged. They are generous people and wouldn't make this decision just for the heck of it. Maybe it will be sometime this week. The foul weather has changed a lot of normal things.
Groceries are a necessity. Maybe a neighbor could find out who really needs what and go shopping for them? Especially with the next weather band soon to arrive.

The Food Bank people chose not to drive up to West Point. The roads were perfectly clear. This press release doesn't say to call the number listed for a personal delivery. They won't do that. The number is only for questions. You cannot assume an elderly person will reach out to their neighbor. Heck, the homes are spread far out in the woods that many able bodied people don't even know who their neighbors are.

Please quit making excuses. The Food Bank chose not to drive up the hill. Many will go without for a week. Shame on them.
