Prevent T2 ~ A Program Proven To Help Those At Risk Prevent Type 2 Diabetes

Sonora, CA...As many as one in three people with prediabetes will develop type 2 diabetes within five years, leading to devastating health problems such as heart attack; stroke; blindness; kidney failure and loss of toes, feet or legs. Fortunately, prediabetes doesn’t have to lead to type 2 diabetes. With the right strategy risk factors for type 2 diabetes can be reduced, effectively preventing the disease.

Sonora Regional Medical Center is offering “Prevent T2,” a proven lifestyle change program, endorsed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and designed to help participants prevent or delay type 2 diabetes. The one-year Prevent T2 program has shown that improving food choices, increasing physical activity and weight loss help participants succeed in making long lasting lifestyle changes leading to better health outcomes.

With the goal of reducing the diagnosis of diabetes by over 50 percent in our community, this program is open to anyone who meets the following criteria:
Availability to attend most of the 25 meetings throughout the year
18 years of age or older
Body mass index over 24.0kg/m2
Recent blood test indicating prediabetes
Or screens positive for prediabetes by taking this screening test: https://www.cdc.gov/diabetes/prevention/pdf/prediabetestest.pdf

For more information and to register for the program, please call 209-536-3720.
